After a week of no byes and one with only two teams off, byes are back in full force in Week 10. And if you are scrambling to try to replace Jordan Love, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Nick Chubb or anyone else, my Week 10 start and sit column can help. With its leaning on my comprehensive weekly fantasy projections that rank players and provide discrete fantasy values, you can set your lineups with confidence no matter your format or depth of fantasy league. Read on to see that full breakdown for Week 10.
The positional rankings and projected fantasy point totals rely on half-PPR scoring. The listed start/sit calls assume a 12-team league with 2 running back, 3 wide receiver, 1 tight end, and 1 flex starting lineup spots. If your league is different, I recommend you start my higher ranked players over my lower ranked players.
You can find my weekly rankings and those of other FTN writers here.
Fantasy Football Start/Sit: Week 10
Quarterbacks
6. Brock Purdy, SF at TB: 30.0-260-1.50-0.78 and 2.7-14-0.15 = 17.1
7. Patrick Mahomes, KC vs. DEN: 34.6-253-1.77-0.93 and 3.2-13-0.08 = 17.1
8. Matthew Stafford, LA vs. MIA: 36.2-274-1.80-0.80 and 1.3-1-0.03 = 16.9
9. Kyler Murray, ARZ vs. NYJ: 28.5-203-1.20-0.43 and 5.0-41-0.12 = 16.8
10. Drake Maye, NE at CHI
35.0-222-1.44-1.02 and 3.5-35-0.12 = 16.8
Maye has looked like a rookie quarterback with the looseness of his 7.2% turnover-worthy pass percentage that is second to only a benched Anthony Richardson’s 7.9% rate. But the rookie’s rushing versatility forgives that sin and those of the Patriots skill players around him in fantasy. Maye has 197 rushing yards through his first four professional starts. That’s comfortably more than Richardson (136), Kyler Murray (113), and Josh Allen (109), all players with better reputations as dual-threat quarterbacks. He isn’t quite Jayden Daniels, but Maye is a fantasy starter.
11. Joe Flacco, IND vs. BUF
38.9-267-1.83-0.90 and 1.2-3-0.03 = 16.7
You can blame it on his matchup with a Vikings team that ranks first in defensive DVOA. Or you can blame it on bad luck. But Flacco threw a modest 27 pass attempts in Week 9. And he had thrown between 38 and 44 passes in six of his previous seven starts in 2023 and 2024. The truth may be in the middle. But I’m still projecting the veteran for 38.9 pass attempts in Week 10, 1.0 more than any other quarterback. And that volume keeps him a fantasy QB1.
12. Sam Darnold, MIN at JAX
28.8-244-1.76-0.84 and 3.4-13-0.04 = 16.6
Darnold finally threw more than the 25-31 passes he attempted every week in the first two months when he passed 34 times in Week 9. But when he secured his third touchdown Sunday evening, I stopped sweating his modest volume. The journeyman has 17 touchdowns, tied for fourth most halfway through the season. And if that rate isn’t regressing, then there’s no need to sweat the other indicators.
13. Kirk Cousins, ATL at NO
34.7-274-1.70-0.76 and 1.7-0-0.06 = 16.6
Cousins has looked like a no-brainer fantasy starter with 785 yards and eight touchdowns in two starts against his new divisional-rival Buccaneers. But the veteran quarterback spurred those outbursts with an outlier 58 pass attempts in his first Tampa matchup in Week 5. And Cousins has averaged a modest 29.6 attempts in his other eight starts this season. The Falcons seem to want to and clearly have the talent to skew run. And without his own rushing versatility, Cousins would need top-tier passing volume to spur top-10 fantasy value.
14. Baker Mayfield, TB vs. SF
34.2-222-1.64-0.89 and 3.0-17-0.12 = 16.1
I worried that Mike Evans’ and Chris Godwin’s injuries would sabotage Mayfield’s surprisingly exceptional fantasy efficiency. But the former journeyman has completed 74.1% of his passes for 6.5 yards per attempt and thrown five touchdowns to the likes of Cade Otton, Sterling Shepard and Rakim Jarrett the last two weeks. Maybe the 49ers make that a bit harder in Week 10. But I wouldn’t tell you to sit Mayfield if you trusted what you saw the last two weeks.
15. C.J. Stroud, HST vs. DET
33.7-244-1.35-0.44 and 2.8-13-0.09 = 16.1
Stroud should get his No. 1 receiver Nico Collins back from a hamstring injury this weekend. But that won’t cure the former’s No. 1 issue. Stroud has faced a 37.2% pressure rate that is the highest among current starters. And that distress has dropped the sophomore’s efficiency enough to sabotage his QB1 consideration without the rushing contributions of his contemporaries Kyler Murray or Drake Maye to boost him.
16. Justin Herbert, LAC vs. TEN: 32.2-245-1.42-0.35 and 2.8-9-0.06 = 16.0
17. Jared Goff, DET at HST: 29.5-248-1.66-0.53 and 1.7-2-0.04 = 15.9
18. Russell Wilson, PIT at WAS: 30.6-229-1.59-0.52 and 2.1-8-0.10 = 15.9
19. Tua Tagovailoa, MIA at LA: 33.3-259-1.50-0.80 and 1.9-7-0.04 = 15.7
20. Trevor Lawrence, JAX vs. MIN: 32.2-235-1.39-0.71 and 2.4-11-0.17 = 15.6
21. Bo Nix, DEN at KC: 32.8-196-1.12-0.72 and 5.2-27-0.28 = 15.2
22. Daniel Jones, NYG at CAR: 34.9-216-1.05-0.63 and 5.5-22-0.21 = 15.0
23. Derek Carr, NO vs. ATL: 31.7-235-1.49-0.67 and 1.3-3-0.10 = 14.9
24. Aaron Rodgers, NYJ at ARZ: 35.3-236-1.62-0.78 and 1.0-4-0.02 = 14.8
25. Caleb Williams, CHI vs. NE: 32.0-202-1.25-0.64 and 3.7-22-0.10 = 14.5
Running Backs
12. Kareem Hunt, KC vs. DEN: 20.0-74-0.92 and 1.8-1.4-9-0.05 = 14.8
13. Jahmyr Gibbs, DET at HST: 12.4-75-0.51 and 3.8-3.0-21-0.12 = 14.7
14. Chase Brown, CIN at BLT: 15.7-71-0.46 and 4.0-3.2-20-0.16 = 14.4
15. J.K. Dobbins, LAC vs. TEN: 17.3-85-0.47 and 3.1-2.5-14-0.06 = 14.3
16. D’Andre Swift, CHI vs. NE: 16.3-67-0.52 and 3.4-2.8-22-0.07 = 13.9
17. James Conner, ARZ vs. NYJ: 16.5-75-0.50 and 2.9-2.3-17-0.06 = 13.7
18. David Montgomery, DET at HST: 13.9-62-0.74 and 2.0-1.7-14-0.04 = 13.1
19. James Cook, BUF at IND: 14.1-64-0.44 and 3.0-2.5-21-0.11 = 13.1
20. Chuba Hubbard, CAR vs. NYG: 13.7-67-0.47 and 3.3-2.9-15-0.08 = 12.9
21. Tony Pollard, TEN at LAC: 14.8-65-0.39 and 3.7-2.8-17-0.07 = 12.4
22. Rhamondre Stevenson, NE at CHI: 13.6-53-0.48 and 3.8-3.0-16-0.12 = 12.1
23. Najee Harris, PIT at WAS: 16.3-70-0.42 and 2.3-1.7-13-0.04 = 12.0
24. Brian Robinson Jr., WAS vs. PIT: 14.6-65-0.60 and 1.4-1.1-10-0.04 = 11.8
25. Tyrone Tracy Jr., NYG at CAR: 13.8-67-0.30 and 2.4-1.9-14-0.05 = 11.2
26. Rico Dowdle, DAL vs. PHI: 13.0-57-0.30 and 2.8-2.2-17-0.11 = 11.0
27. Rachaad White, TB vs. SF: 7.6-29-0.18 and 4.2-3.7-30-0.18 = 10.0
28. Bucky Irving, TB vs. SF: 8.7-43-0.34 and 2.8-2.5-19-0.06 = 9.8
29. Tank Bigsby, JAX vs. MIN: 11.3-59-0.43 and 1.1-0.8-6-0.03 = 9.6
30. Raheem Mostert, MIA at LA
9.4-42-0.40 and 2.3-1.8-13-0.07 = 9.2
Mostert may not push for an encore 18 rushing touchdowns in 2024. But the veteran has seen his red zone carries double from three in Week 5 and 7 with Tyler Huntley at quarterback to six in Weeks 8 and 9 with Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback.
31. Javonte Williams, DEN at KC
10.3-39-0.32 and 2.9-2.3-16-0.06 = 8.9
Sean Payton told reporters he planned to play rookie Audric Estime more in Week 9 to revive a lifeless Broncos rushing offense. And Payton proceeded to bump the rookie from a 7% snap share in Week 8 to a 10% share in Week 9. Williams may not be an appealing fantasy option. But he’s still played more than half of his team’s snaps every week this season. You may not have a better flex option.
32. Jaylen Warren, PIT at WAS
8.9-40-0.21 and 3.2-2.7-17-0.07 = 8.7
Warren played limited snap shares when he played at all the first month and a half of the season. But since shaking his preseason hamstring injury, the third-year back has played a season-high 51% snap share in Week 7 and seen his highest two totals of 14 and 11 touches in Weeks 7 and 8. Coming off the extra rest of a bye week, Warren should be back to his former flex standard in Week 10.
33. Travis Etienne Jr., JAX vs. MIN
7.1-30-0.23 and 3.3-2.5-17-0.07 = 7.7
Etienne yielded a 31% versus 52% snap share deficit to his breakout sophomore teammate Tank Bigsby in Week 9. But the former starter still lapped Bigsby with 3 versus 0 targets Sunday and could cling to at least flex fantasy value with a preferred receiving back role.
34. Austin Ekeler, WAS vs. PIT
4.9-22-0.16 and 3.2-2.6-24-0.09 = 7.3
Ekeler played a temporary lead back and scored his second touchdown of the season in Week 9. But assuming his teammate Brian Robinson can play through his nagging hamstring injury in Week 10, Ekeler should revert to his receiving back role. And that spurs too little volume to start him in fantasy against the fearsome Steelers defense.
35. Tyjae Spears, TEN at LAC: 5.5-22-0.13 and 3.1-2.5-18-0.07 = 6.5
36. Tyler Allgeier, ATL at NO: 8.3-38-0.23 and 1.0-0.9-7-0.02 = 6.4
37. Justice Hill, BLT vs. CIN: 3.4-14-0.09 and 3.0-2.5-24-0.10 = 6.2
38. Jaleel McLaughlin, DEN at KC: 4.8-21-0.12 and 2.1-1.8-9-0.08 = 5.0
39. Devin Singletary, NYG at CAR: 5.7-24-0.15 and 1.5-1.2-8-0.03 = 4.9
40. Ray Davis, BUF at IND: 5.8-25-0.17 and 0.9-0.7-7-0.03 = 4.7
41. Jonathon Brooks, CAR vs. NYG: 4.3-19-0.13 and 1.6-1.3-10-0.04 = 4.5
42. Roschon Johnson, CHI vs. NE: 5.2-20-0.22 and 1.0-0.8-6-0.02 = 4.4
43. Antonio Gibson, NE at CHI: 3.5-14-0.07 and 1.7-1.4-12-0.04 = 4.0
44. Braelon Allen, NYJ at ARZ: 4.9-19-0.14 and 1.1-0.8-6-0.03 = 3.9
45. Jordan Mason, SF at TB: 4.5-23-0.15 and 0.6-0.5-3-0.01 = 3.8
46. Ezekiel Elliott, DAL vs. PHI: 5.6-20-0.16 and 0.9-0.7-4-0.02 = 3.8
47. Cam Akers, MIN at JAX: 4.8-19-0.13 and 1.1-0.8-5-0.03 = 3.8
48. Samaje Perine, KC vs. DEN: 1.0-4-0.03 and 2.4-1.9-16-0.08 = 3.7
49. Sean Tucker, TB vs. SF: 3.2-16-0.08 and 1.0-0.8-7-0.03 = 3.4
50. Kimani Vidal, LAC vs. TEN: 4.8-18-0.13 and 0.6-0.5-4-0.02 = 3.3
51. Kenneth Gainwell, PHI at DAL: 3.3-14-0.11 and 1.2-0.9-6-0.02 = 3.2
52. Audric Estime, DEN at KC: 3.6-17-0.10 and 0.8-0.6-5-0.02 = 3.2
53. Dameon Pierce, HST vs. DET: 3.9-16-0.12 and 0.6-0.5-3-0.01 = 3.0
54. Khalil Herbert, CIN at BLT: 2.9-13-0.10 and 0.8-0.6-4-0.02 = 2.7
55. Dalvin Cook, DAL vs. PHI: 3.7-14-0.09 and 0.6-0.5-3-0.01 = 2.6
56. Jaylen Wright, MIA at LA: 3.6-17-0.08 and 0.3-0.2-2-0.01 = 2.6
Wide Receivers
12. Josh Downs, IND vs. BUF: 9.4-6.4-71-0.40 = 12.8
13. Davante Adams, NYJ at ARZ: 9.2-5.5-67-0.45 = 12.1
14. Deebo Samuel Sr., SF at TB: 6.6-4.1-61-0.29 = 11.8
15. Brian Thomas Jr., JAX vs. MIN: 6.8-4.5-70-0.41 = 11.8
16. Tyreek Hill, MIA at LA: 7.8-5.0-69-0.35 = 11.8
17. George Pickens, PIT at WAS: 7.7-4.6-73-0.35 = 11.7
18. Terry McLaurin, WAS vs. PIT: 7.1-4.8-67-0.42 = 11.7
19. Ladd McConkey, LAC vs. TEN: 7.7-5.1-64-0.40 = 11.4
20. DeVonta Smith, PHI at DAL: 6.6-4.8-64-0.35 = 10.9
21. Zay Flowers, BLT vs. CIN: 6.9-4.7-64-0.31 = 10.8
22. Darnell Mooney, ATL at NO: 7.6-4.6-64-0.36 = 10.8
23. DJ Moore, CHI vs. NE: 7.4-4.6-55-0.38 = 10.3
24. Courtland Sutton, DEN at KC: 8.0-4.3-58-0.38 = 10.3
25. DeAndre Hopkins, KC vs. DEN: 6.9-4.5-57-0.38 = 10.2
26. Khalil Shakir, BUF at IND: 5.7-5.0-60-0.25 = 10.1
27. Marvin Harrison Jr., ARZ vs. NYJ: 7.4-3.9-56-0.39 = 9.9
28. Calvin Ridley, TEN at LAC: 8.5-4.1-56-0.33 = 9.9
29. Tank Dell, HST vs. DET: 6.6-4.2-53-0.35 = 9.8
30. Amari Cooper, BUF at IND: 5.7-3.6-54-0.33 = 9.2
31. Keenan Allen, CHI vs. NE: 7.3-4.4-49-0.33 = 9.1
32. Michael Pittman Jr., IND vs. BUF: 7.7-4.4-50-0.27 = 8.9
33. Xavier Legette, CAR vs. NYG: 6.4-4.1-43-0.34 = 8.7
34. Jauan Jennings, SF at TB: 5.3-3.6-52-0.30 = 8.7
35. Quentin Johnston, LAC vs. TEN: 5.5-3.5-47-0.31 = 8.5
36. Jordan Addison, MIN at JAX: 4.9-3.2-43-0.30 = 7.9
37. Wan’Dale Robinson, NYG at CAR
7.4-5.0-37-0.24 = 7.7
Robinson has taken a relative back seat to his teammate and target king Malik Nabers the last three weeks. But the third-year slot receiver still boasts a 21.5% target share in seven games alongside Nabers that is 13th highest among wide receivers those weeks. You can start him with confidence in any sort of PPR format.
38. Jaylen Waddle, MIA at LA
5.0-3.5-47-0.20 = 7.7
Waddle needed a late touchdown to salvage an otherwise abysmal fantasy day with two catches and -4 yards in Week 9. But even with that dud, Waddle has averaged 48 yards in Tua Tagovailoa starts versus just 30 yards with other quarterbacks this season. You can start him with relative confidence now that the Dolphins offense has all its critical pieces back.
39. Demarcus Robinson, LA vs. MIA
5.1-3.0-42-0.33 = 7.7
Robinson may owe his fantasy outbursts in Week 8 and 9 to a Puka Nacua ejection and an unsustainable four touchdowns on just four targets thrown into the red zone. But the veteran has played a healthy third receiver role with 85% and 70% snap shares with Cooper Kupp and Nacua healthy the last two weeks. And Robinson supported the fantasy relevance of that role with a top-12 fantasy point total from Weeks 13 to 17 in 2023.
40. Rome Odunze, CHI vs. NE
5.5-3.2-45-0.24 = 7.6
The rookie Odunze does not have a playing time problem. He’s played at least 75% of snaps all eight games this season. He has a passing volume problem. Caleb Williams has averaged a meager 189 yards and 0.5 touchdowns in six starts against opponents other than the Panthers and Jaguars, the bottom two teams in pass defense DVOA.
41. DeMario Douglas, NE at CHI: 6.0-4.2-42-0.19 = 7.5
42. Noah Brown, WAS vs. PIT: 4.8-3.2-46-0.20 = 7.4
43. Jameson Williams, DET at HST: 4.4-2.6-41-0.21 = 7.2
44. Xavier Worthy, KC vs. DEN: 5.2-2.7-35-0.26 = 6.9
45. Alec Pierce, IND vs. BUF: 4.5-2.5-45-0.19 = 6.9
46. Darius Slayton, NYG at CAR: 4.7-3.0-44-0.16 = 6.8
47. Joshua Palmer, LAC vs. TEN: 4.3-2.8-41-0.19 = 6.6
48. Ray-Ray McCloud, ATL at NO: 4.6-3.2-34-0.16 = 6.3
49. Sterling Shepard, TB vs. SF: 4.7-2.9-31-0.21 = 6.1
50. Michael Wilson, ARZ vs. NYJ: 4.2-2.8-33-0.22 = 6.1
51. Cedrick Wilson Jr., NO vs. ATL: 4.3-2.8-34-0.20 = 6.0
52. Diontae Johnson, BLT vs. CIN: 4.8-2.6-31-0.25 = 5.9
53. Parker Washington, JAX vs. MIN: 4.7-3.0-32-0.19 = 5.9
54. Jalen Coker, CAR vs. NYG: 4.0-2.7-35-0.17 = 5.8
55. Jalen Tolbert, DAL vs. PHI: 4.0-2.7-32-0.21 = 5.8
56. Jalen McMillan, TB vs. SF: 4.7-2.5-29-0.19 = 5.5
57. Kendrick Bourne, NE at CHI: 4.2-2.7-30-0.18 = 5.5
58. Rashod Bateman, BLT vs. CIN: 3.5-2.2-34-0.15 = 5.3
59. Kayshon Boutte, NE at CHI: 4.0-2.4-31-0.17 = 5.3
60. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, TEN at LAC: 3.6-2.2-27-0.23 = 5.2
61. Andrei Iosivas, CIN at BLT: 4.2-2.2-26-0.24 = 5.1
Tight Ends
3. Cade Otton, TB vs. SF: 8.1-5.8-55-0.49 = 11.4
4. Evan Engram, JAX vs. MIN: 8.2-6.2-56-0.32 = 10.6
5. Trey McBride, ARZ vs. NYJ: 7.6-5.7-61-0.24 = 10.3
6. Hunter Henry, NE at CHI: 6.5-4.8-51-0.30 = 9.2
7. Taysom Hill, NO vs. ATL: 3.5-2.6-24-0.16 = 9.0
8. Kyle Pitts, ATL at NO: 5.5-3.8-50-0.26 = 8.5
9. Mike Gesicki, CIN at BLT
5.3-4.2-47-0.29 = 8.5
A tight end may be a counterintuitive handcuff for a wide receiver. But Gesicki has nearly tripled his total from eight catches in four games with Tee Higgins active to 22 catches in four games with Higgins sidelined this season. The veteran receiver is doubtful for tonight’s Ravens matchup. And that makes Gesicki a definitive fantasy TE1.
10. Dallas Goedert, PHI at DAL
5.2-4.1-46-0.20 = 7.8
Goedert returned to practice Wednesday after missing the last three weeks with a hamstring injury. Keep an eye on the news heading into the weekend. But if Goedert can return to the field Sunday, you should return him to your fantasy lineups.
11. Mark Andrews, BLT vs. CIN
4.4-3.4-40-0.33 = 7.6
Andrews has a 1.94 expected touchdown surplus since Week 5 that is second highest at his position. Broadly speaking, I do not trust his recent fantasy TE1 resurgence. But with his tight end teammate Isaiah Likely sidelined with a hamstring injury, that shouldn’t matter as much in Week 10. You can start Andrews with confidence.
12. Sam LaPorta, DET at HST
4.4-3.4-39-0.27 = 7.2
LaPorta showed a glimpse of his 2023 fantasy form with six catches, 48 yards and a touchdown in Week 8. But the talented tight end enjoyed that outburst with his teammate Jameson Williams out on a two-game suspension. With Williams poised to return in Week 10, don’t count on a top-five LaPorta fantasy week.
13. Jake Ferguson, DAL vs. PHI
5.6-4.1-38-0.23 = 7.2
Ferguson has a top-seven tight end total of 38 catches this season and would normally be an easy TE1 fantasy choice. But with Cooper Rush in at quarterback for an injured Dak Prescott, expect less passing volume and efficiency. The safe move may be to bench Ferguson in Week 10.
14. Dalton Kincaid, BUF at IND
6.0-3.6-36-0.23 = 6.8
Kincaid hasn’t seen the real reckoning of the Bills’ trade for Amari Cooper since Cooper missed Week 9 and Keon Coleman seems set to miss Week 10 and maybe more weeks. But even with less competition for targets, the sophomore tight end has seen a modest total of seven end zone targets since he entered the league, tied for just 16th at his position. You may need a full PPR format to trust Kincaid in fantasy.
15. Jonnu Smith, MIA at LA: 4.7-3.5-36-0.18 = 6.4
16. Cole Kmet, CHI vs. NE: 3.6-3.0-32-0.23 = 6.1
17. Pat Freiermuth, PIT at WAS: 3.9-3.0-31-0.18 = 5.7
18. Zach Ertz, WAS vs. PIT: 4.1-2.9-30-0.19 = 5.6
19. T.J. Hockenson, MIN at JAX: 3.8-2.8-28-0.17 = 5.3
20. Dalton Schultz, HST vs. DET: 4.6-2.8-28-0.17 = 5.2
21. Tyler Conklin, NYJ at ARZ: 3.9-2.7-25-0.17 = 4.8
22. Will Dissly, LAC vs. TEN: 3.7-2.9-26-0.12 = 4.8
23. Chigoziem Okonkwo, TEN at LAC: 3.6-2.6-25-0.15 = 4.7
24. Theo Johnson, NYG at CAR: 3.4-2.3-25-0.16 = 4.6
25. Juwan Johnson, NO vs. ATL: 3.2-2.3-25-0.15 = 4.6
26. Ja’Tavion Sanders, CAR vs. NYG: 3.1-2.4-25-0.14 = 4.5
