After trading up back into the first round of the 2025 NFL draft on Thursday night to select Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll made it clear in his press conference that veteran Russell Wilson will be the starting QB, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. "He can come in, sit behind a couple veteran quarterbacks and learn," Daboll said. In addition to Wilson, the G-Men signed former first-rounder Jameis Winston to bolster their QB room heading into 2025. Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are both firmly on the hot seat, but at least the Giants now have their QB of the future if things go poorly again this fall. Wilson, 36, initially gave Pittsburgh's offense a spark in 2024 but looked over the hill down the stretch. He could develop a nice chemistry with WR1 Malik Nabers, but Wilson will have to play well to hold off Winston and Dart.

New York Giants quarterback Russell Wilson said he expects to be the team's starting QB in 2025 after agreeing to a one-year deal worth $10.5 million guaranteed on Tuesday. Wilson joins veteran Jameis Winston and Tommy DeVito in the G-Men's quarterback room, although they could still add a rookie signal-caller in April's draft. The 36-year-old underwhelmed in his two seasons in Denver in 2022 and 2023 and then completed 63.7% of his 336 pass attempts for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 regular-season starts for the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2024. The 10-time Pro Bowler and former Super Bowl champion is clearly past his prime, but he'll have some decent weapons in New York, most notably second-year wideout Malik Nabers. However, given how he's looked the last three years, Wilson is unlikely to be much more than a midrange QB2 in fantasy in 2025, at best.

The New York Giants and Super Bowl-winning quarterback Russell Wilson agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $21 million on Tuesday, including $10.5 million guaranteed, sources tell ESPN's Adam Schefter. The 10-time Pro Bowler had been in talks with the Giants, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers but has chosen the G-Men, where he will be their projected starter heading into the 2025 season. The 36-year-old veteran had two underwhelming seasons for the Denver Broncos in 2022-23 before throwing for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns and five interceptions in 11 regular-season starts for Pittsburgh in 2024. Wilson got a late start last year due to a nagging calf injury. He initially gave the Steelers offense a spark but overall was mostly underwhelming. Russ will have one of the best young wideouts in the game to throw deep balls to in Malik Nabers, but he's unlikely to suddenly become an every-week QB1 in fantasy at this stage of his career. The Giants also added veteran Jameis Winston last week and could still take a QB with the third overall pick of April's NFL draft.
