Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell took four carries for 23 yards and was the first back on the field with the second-string unit against the Baltimore Ravens Friday night. Rookie Will Shipley soon came in to take over for the 25-year-old but was not nearly as efficient on his seven carries. Shipley was able to find the end zone at the end of the first quarter, catching a seven-yard pass from quarterback Kenny Pickett. Gainwell seems to have the inside track on the No. 2 job behind Saquon Barkley, but Shipley is proving that he can carve out his own role in the passing game and has been paired with Gainwell for kickoff returns.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell took seven carries for 62 yards and failed to catch his lone target in Sunday's 10-27 loss to the New York Giants. D'Andre Swift (illness) was ruled out early on Sunday, leaving the 24-year-old as the starter for the final game of the regular season. Gainwell looked good early but was not given the ball much after the team fell behind. The Eagle's offense was in disarray, with all of their top skills players injured either before or during the game, leading to a disappointing performance for everyone involved. Swift should be good to go next week when the Eagles travel to Tampa to take on the Buccaneers, leaving Gainwell off most managers' fantasy radars in DFS and tournaments.
Philadelphia Eagles running back Kenneth Gainwell figures to draw the start in the backfield on Sunday in the team's Week 18 regular season finale against the New York Giants with lead back D'Andre Swift (illness) expected to be inactive. Swift was a late addition to the team's injury report this week, and with the Eagles needing a Washington Commanders win over the Dallas Cowboys (which is unlikely) to win the NFC East division, they figure to rest some of their key contributors on both sides of the ball this weekend. Swift being out will make Gainwell more attractive as a low-cost DFS option in the final game of the regular season, although he, too, could eventually be rested on Sunday in favor of Boston Scott and Rashaad Penny as Philly looks to get healthy for the first round of the playoffs next weekend.
