Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy had two catches for 17 yards in the 26-25 win against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. Worthy also added five rushing yards on his only carry of the afternoon. The Chiefs rookie receiver again had three touches but could not break off a big play in this contest. Worthy's role in the offense is too volatile to expect weekly production, but his speed makes him a big play threat at any moment. Worthy will look to find the endzone again next week against the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons were tough on wide receivers last season, but the Chiefs have shown that they will move Worthy around and involve him in different ways. The Chiefs rookie can be considered a high-upside flex play moving forward, as long as fantasy managers can live with the production when he doesn't score.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy will face the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2. The Chiefs first-round rookie had a massive game in Week 1, scoring two touchdowns, but that production came on just three touches. Worthy will have an easier opponent this week since he faced the Baltimore Ravens stingy defense in his NFL debut. The Bengals allowed the sixth-most receiving yards in 2023, so the rookie wideout should find success in this contest. News also broke that the Chiefs placed fellow wide receiver Marquise Brown on injured reserve, so Worthy should quickly fill the WR2 role in Kansas City for the foreseeable future. The Chiefs will likely incorporate Worthy into the offensive game plan more as the season progresses, so the sky is the limit for the young speedster. Worthy is a worthy flex play with upside this week against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy had a fantastic NFL debut in last week's Thursday night win over the Baltimore Ravens. The rookie out of Texas posted 68 yards and two touchdowns on just three touches. However, Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt is not worried about the matchup in Week 2. "Speed. That's about it. He can run straight," Taylor-Britt said of Worthy on Thursday. "Run jet sweeps and just run straight. Can't do too much else. That's about it. I feel like you put your hands on him -- he's only 100-something pounds -- you put hands on him, you'll stop the speed. So basically get hands on him." While the Bengals allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to wide receivers last week, a matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium is an entirely different challenge than hosting the Patriots. All that said, Worthy has a boom-or-bust fantasy football outlook until he puts up games with more targets and touches. With Marquise Brown (shoulder) still not practicing, he could have the opportunity to do so in Week 2.
