Cincinnati Bengals tight end Mike Gesicki was solid in Sunday's loss to the Chiefs. The veteran had three catches for 18 yards in Week 1 against the Pats. He also nearly had a touchdown, although it was overturned. However, Gesicki made up for that performance by amassing a game-high seven grabs for 91 yards in Week 2. Without question, nobody expects him to be a top fantasy tight end. But with Tee Higgins (hamstring) sidelined, Gesicki could remain more involved. Yet, even when Higgins returns, it appears Gesicki has caught the attention of Joe Burrow, giving him value for Week 3 against the Commanders for fantasy managers looking to fill a void at the position.

Although the Bengals selected Erick All Jr. in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft, Gesicki could begin the season as the clear TE1 for quarterback Joe Burrow as All works his way back from a torn ACL and adjusts to the NFL. That said, Gesicki likely has limited upside while competing for targets with Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. He is best served as a late-round flier in traditional fantasy leagues and best-ball setups.

Gesicki, who is 28 years old, has even racked up a few impressive one-hand catches during drills with Burrow. The seasoned tight end will be on his third team in three years after a one-year stint in New England and projects to lead a TE room with veterans Drew Sample and Tanner Hudson and rookies Erick All Jr. and Tanner McLachlan. Gesicki is the TE29 (ADP No. 243) in NFFC drafts. The former Dolphin still has some juice and will play with the best quarterback he's ever had. He'll be a target in best ball formats and can be picked up off the waiver wire in others with a chance to be a sneaky sleeper. In 2021, Gesicki amassed a career-high 73 receptions for 780 yards on 112 targets but has been limited to 61 catches for 606 yards over 34 games in the last two seasons with the Dolphins and Patriots.
