As we head into Week 8 of the fantasy football season, lineups need to be set, and with that comes some tough decisions. Start/sit decisions are some of the biggest calls fantasy managers make each week.
One of the most popular tools here at FTN is our fantasy football rankings. Each week, we bring you non-PPR, PPR and half-PPR rankings to help you win your league.
Throughout the season, I will break down what players our FTN rankers prefer more (or less) than the expert consensus rankings at FantasyPros. For this article, I will be looking at the half-PPR format.
There are plenty of differences within the top 12 this week, including Derek Carr, who our FTN rankers believe is a top-10 option this week.
Additionally, the ECR believes in Daniel Jones more than our rankers, as they have him as a top-10 option, as opposed to FTN, who has him just sneaking into the QB1 ranks this week.
Outside of the top 12, the biggest difference between the ECR and our rankers is Aaron Rodgers, as our rankers believe that Rodgers’s struggles correct themselves some Sunday evening in Buffalo as we have him three spots higher than the ECR.
Another big name that is struggling is Matthew Stafford, and our FTN rankers believe these struggles continue against a 49ers team that has dominated the Rams recently.
The larges discrepancies this week between our FTN rankers and the ECR belong to D’Andre Swift and Tyler Allgeier. Those discrepancies are in opposite directions, our rankers believe Swift is a top-15 option this week while the ECR believes he is barely a top-20 option.
On the flip side, Allgeier is ranked outside the top 30 by our FTN rankers while the ECR believes he is just outside the top 25 this week.
Additionally, the FTN crew believes that Michael Carter leads the Jets backfield and lands himself inside the top-24 this week while the ECR believes he will finish outside the top-24.
This week’s largest discrepancy award goes to Gabe Davis, as our FTN crew has Davis as a low-end WR2 while the ECR has him as a fringe WR1.
A close runner-up to this is Diontae Johnson, who our FTN crew believes could possibly finish as a WR2 or high-end WR3 while the ECR has him outside the top-30.
Jakobi Meyers and DJ Moore both have a four-spot gap between the ECR and our FTN rankers, but they are in opposite directions as our rankers believe more in Meyers than More this week.
Two players who the ECR is more in on this week as their rosters are riddled with a few injuries are Tee Higgins and Chris Olave as the ECR has both of them as top-15 options this week. While our rankers have Olave outside the top 15 and Higgins just barely inside it.
Coming off a 20-point night, our FTN rankers believe DeAndre Hopkins is more likely to repat this than the ECR.
The ECR and FTN our fairly aligned within the top four, but the FTN crew has Tyler Higbee at five while the ECR has Taysom Hill here.
One of the largest discrepancies this week is with Dawson Knox, who is ranked inside the top-12 in the ECR while our FTN rankers have him outside the top-15.
Additionally, our FTN crew believes that Irv Smith will be a TE1 this week coming off a bye while the ECR doesn’t believe this is so.
