With the 2025 baseball season now underway and our attention squarely focused on the big-league action, it is important to remember that those prospects we were projecting and fawning over all offseason are now developing in their own right, whether we are paying close attention or not. It is the goal of this monthly publication to keep a close eye on all of that for you and distinguish between how player development pertains to both short-term (redraft) and long-term (dynasty) viewpoints.
The Call-Up-Watch Kids
Being that it’s April, I don’t expect any of these guys to be up with the big club this month. What would be the point of having them start the year in the minor leagues and then be in the big leagues a few short weeks later? Especially if they are PPI eligible, you would have expected them to break camp with the big club to give them the longest time to accrue stats toward their respective ROY campaigns. Nonetheless, the talent is immense and the production has followed with this group, and I expect them to be on a big-league roster before the summer months. We won’t bother discussing already debuted prospects in these parts, so you’ll have to read elsewhere for analysis of Kristian Campbell, Roki Sasaki, Cam Smith and the like.
