Jakobi Meyers Leads Raiders In Receiving Yards On Limited Targets

Despite fewer opportunities, Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers made the most of them in Sunday's 22-10 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Meyers caught all three of his targets for 61 yards to lead the Raiders in receiving, averaging a whopping 20.3 yards per target. His efficiency was notable, but the volume was not. Meyers' fantasy value is in limbo; he's capable of big plays but needs more targets. He's a speculative add or a bench stash, potentially useful if injuries hit or his target share increases in upcoming games. Meyers will be tough to trust and is flex play at best in deep-league formats in a tough matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.

Jakobi Meyers Has Been "Lights-Out"

Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Jakobi Meyers has "really, really, really stepped up his game" in Year 2 with the team, according to head coach Antonio Pierce. "Since the offseason, he's been lights-out," Pierce said. Things couldn't have gone much better for Meyers in his first season with the Raiders in 2023, especially considering the quarterback situation, as he finished with 71 receptions (106 targets) for 807 receiving yards and a career-high eight touchdowns in 16 starts. He also rushed for two scores. The 27-year-old pass-catcher is almost certainly going to face touchdown regression in 2024, especially since he'll be working with either O'Connell again or newcomer Gardner Minshew. Meyers' numbers in the other receiving categories could also take a step back after the addition of rookie pass-catching tight end Brock Bowers.

Raiders Restructure Jakobi Meyers' Contract

The Las Vegas Raiders restructured wide receiver Jakobi Meyers' contract on Friday to create $4.125 million in salary cap space for 2024. Meyers joined the Raiders in free agency last offseason and signed a three-year, $33 million deal. He immediately paid off for the Raiders as the No. 2 behind All-Pro Davante Adams, as Meyers finished his first year in Sin City with 71 receptions on 106 targets for 807 yards and a career-high eight touchdowns in 16 starts. The 27-year-old pass-catcher has now gone over 800 receiving yards in each of the last three seasons, although keeping that trend alive could be more difficult in 2024 with the Raiders potentially using a rookie signal-caller under center for much of the year. Still, he should at least be in play as a WR3/flex option on a weekly basis with a solid target floor.
