The 2025 NFL Draft is over. The free agency period is over (mostly). There’s a long summer to go before the 2025 NFL season starts, but we have a good idea now what most of the teams are going to look like this season. And with that comes power rankings.
It’s time to look at our NFL power rankings. Who is in the best shape for the 2025 season? And who should already be scouting for the 2026 draft?

Football Almanac 2025

NFL Power Rankings Coming Out of the NFL Draft
1. Baltimore Ravens
2024 record: 12-5, won AFC North, lost in Divisional Round
Win total: 11.5
The Ravens are just about without flaw on offense. They could use some defense help, but then they spent their first two, and three of their first four, draft picks on defense. We’ll see if the picks can shore up a defense that has lagged in recent years.
Biggest Strength

Obviously quarterback. Lamar Jackson’s one of the very best.
Biggest Weakness
Edge. The Mike Green pick carries some off-the-field questions, but on the field, he should help a lot.
2. Philadelphia Eagles
2024 record: 14-3, won NFC East, won Super Bowl
Win total: 11.5
The talent drain on defense in Philadelphia this offseason is real — Josh Sweat, Milton Williams, Brandon Graham and C.J. Gardner-Johnson are all gone. But there’s more than enough talent in Philadelphia to be a top team regardless.
Biggest Strength
Offensive line. Or running back. Maybe it’s just “running game,” considering Jalen Hurts’ presence. The Eagles’ offense is really good.
Biggest Weakness
Edge. Again. Sweat, Williams and Graham all being gone is a significant hit.
3. Detroit Lions
2024: 15-2, won NFC North, lost in Divisional Round
Win total: 10.5
The Lions remain a team that drafts under its own command, as evidenced by the Isaac TeSlaa pick in the third round, but it’s worked out for them a fair amount. The biggest question for this team is whether it can be healthier in 2025.
Biggest Strength

Backfield. The Jahmyr Gibbs/David Montgomery duo might not be a 10-year pairing, but for now no team has better.
Biggest Weakness
Hard one, because the Lions are strong pretty much everywhere. It might be the secondary, specifically cornerback. Terrion Arnold needs to build on his rookie season.
4. Buffalo Bills
2024: 13-4, won AFC East, lost in Conference Championships
Win total: 11.5
The always-a-bridesmaid Bills still have a window to finally get over the top, but it’s not a permanent one. They need to make a move sooner rather than later.
Biggest Strength
If you have the reigning MVP as your starting quarterback, that’s your biggest strength.
Biggest Weakness
Safety. The Bills drafted three corners, including one in the first round. Fifth-rounder Jordan Hancock might be able to switch over to safety, but then he’s a fifth-rounder. The team could still use a boost.
5. Denver Broncos
2024: 10-7, third in AFC West, lost in Wild Card Round
Win total: 9.5
The Broncos need to hold off a potential Bo Nix sophomore slump, but this is a team without many weaknesses at the important positions.
Biggest Strength
It’s tempting to pick defense, considering Denver had one of the best defenses last year and has signed Talanoa Hufanga and Dre Greenlaw and drafted Jahdae Barron in the first round. But I’m going with the offensive line, where the Broncos have suddenly become one of the league’s best.
Biggest Weakness
Wide receiver. It might be running back, but for now I’ll believe in rookie RJ Harvey. At receiver, Courtland Sutton is reliable, but hardly a star, and behind him are a bunch of question marks with upside.
6. Kansas City Chiefs
2024: 15-2, won AFC West, lost in Super Bowl
Win total: 11.5
The Chiefs were 15-2 last year, but their point differential was only 11th best. As long as they have Patrick Mahomes they’re going to be up there, but looking at this like a real 15-2 team is a mistake.
Biggest Strength

Hi, Patrick.
Biggest Weakness
Running back, but this is a very stars-and-scrubs roster at this point. The Chiefs have a fantastic quarterback, but a questionable backfield. Good corners, weak at safeties. Strong at linebackers, rough at edge. Still, until we see Isiah Pacheco look like his pre-injury self, it’s hard to count on any backfield production in Kansas City.
7. Minnesota Vikings
2024: 14-3, second in NFC North, lost in Wild Card Round
Win total: 8.5
The Vikings’ 2025 will all come down to whether J.J. McCarthy can stay healthy and productive in his debut. The Vikings with a good McCarthy are a Super Bowl contender. The Vikings with Sam Howell … are not.
Biggest Strength
Justin Jefferson might be the best receiver in football, Jordan Addison has 20 touchdowns in two NFL seasons, and the Vikings added Tai Felton on Day 2 of the draft. The receiver room is stacked.
Biggest Weakness
Until we see McCarthy on the field, it’s definitely quarterback.
8. Cincinnati Bengals
2024: 9-8, third in AFC North, missed playoffs
Win total: 9.5
For now at least, the Bengals still have Trey Hendrickson, and they drafted Shemar Stewart in the first and Demetrius Knight Jr. in the second. The defense isn’t going to be top of the league, but it should be improved.
Biggest Strength
Quarterback. Keeping Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins around means the receiver room is elite as well, but Joe Burrow is a perennial MVP candidate.
Biggest Weakness
It actually might be the offensive line, given the additions the Bengals made on defense this season. The line needs to take several steps forward, and Cincinnati has limited funds left to do so.
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
2024: 10-7, won NFC South, lost in Wild Card Round
Win total: 9.5
Maybe the Buccaneers just went best player available when they selected Emeka Egbuka despite already having Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Jalen McMillan in house and didn’t fix any weaknesses. But hey, good players are always good to have. The Bucs have a potentially stacked offense.
Biggest Strength
Did you read the last paragraph? This receiver room is one of the best we’ve seen in a while.
Biggest Weakness
Edge, which the Buccaneers did address in the draft, but not until Day 3. The Tampa defense is lagging behind the offense basically across the board.
10. Chicago Bears
2024: 5-12, last in NFC North, missed playoffs
Win total: 8.5
Maybe bold? But the Bears hired what most everyone expects to be a very good head coach this offseason in Ben Johnson and addressed most of their biggest holes either via trade, in free agency or in the draft.
Biggest Strength
The Bears had fine tackles but were weak on the interior offensive line. So they traded for Joe Thuney and Jonah Jackson and signed Drew Dalman. And then they drafted Ozzy Trapilo in the second. The line might be the best Chicago has had in a generation.
Biggest Weakness

D’Andre Swift skated through the offseason still in place as the Bears’ RB1 despite steady rumors they’d look elsewhere. He’s still a competent back, along with Roschon Johnson as his No. 2, but the team could have stood an upgrade.
11. Los Angeles Chargers
2024: 11-6, second in AFC West, lost in Wild Card Round
Win total: 9.5
This is another surprisingly stars-and-scrubs-y roster, with the Chargers having a borderline-elite quarterback, excellent safety work, a good offensive line and a suddenly good backfield duo but big question marks at some other slots.
Biggest Strength
Philip Rivers must be looking longingly at this team, because after years of tissue paper in front of him, the Chargers are suddenly protecting Justin Herbert with a line that looks great.
Biggest Weakness
The Chargers have very little on the defensive interior. Teams with good ground games could have a very good time.
12. Washington Commanders
2024: 12-5, second in NFC East, lost in Conference Championship
Win total: 9.5
After a surprise Cinderella run to the NFC Conference Championship, the Commanders have to hold off regression in Jayden Daniels’ second year.
Biggest Strength
This linebacker room is extremely stout. But after the rookie year he had, it’s Daniels.
Biggest Weakness
After a disastrous start to his Washington tenure last year, Marshon Lattimore is still slated to start for this team in 2025. Unless second-rounder Trey Amos can come in like a star, the Commanders will struggle at corner.
13. Los Angeles Rams
2024: 10-7, won NFC West, lost in the Divisional Round
Win total: 9.5
After looking like their run was over in a 5-12 2022 season, the Rams have gone 10-7 and made the playoffs in back-to-back years. It’s hard to doubt this organization.
Biggest Strength
Cooper Kupp will go down as an all-time Ram, but replacing him with Davante Adams is a massive upgrade, and Adams and Puka Nacua might be the best duo in the league.
Biggest Weakness
Jared Verse and Braden Fiske came in like wrecking balls as rookies and helped fix a flagging defense, but the team is still weak at spots and relying on rookies to patch things up, especially at inside linebacker.
14. Houston Texans
2024: 10-7, won AFC South, lost in the Divisional Round
Win total: 9.5
The Texans’ 2023 and 2024 seasons look superficially identical — 10-7, division title, Wild Card Round win, multi-position loss in the Divisional Round — but the vibes around them couldn’t have been more different. 2023 featured C.J. Stroud swooping in like a star, while 2024 had him regress and the line fall apart.
Biggest Strength
Derek Stingley Jr. might be enough by himself to make the cornerback room the team’s best unit, but it doesn’t stop with him.
Biggest Weakness
The Texans dismantled their disappointing-in-2024 offensive line this offseason, but so far they haven’t done much to fix it, unless you are a particular fan of Cam Robinson. The line could be their downfall.
15. Green Bay Packers
2024: 11-6, third in NFC North, lost in Wild Card Round
Win total: 9.5

Maybe “if you have a dozen WR2s, you don’t have a WR1” isn’t as pithy as “If you have two quarterbacks, you have none,” but the Packers lived that scenario last year and doubled down this offseason, adding Matthew Golden and Savion Williams to Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Dontayvion Wicks, an injured Christian Watson and tight ends Tucker Kraft and Luke Musgrave.
Biggest Strength
Xavier McKinney’s debut in Green Bay was a big success, and the team’s safety unit is very stout.
Biggest Weakness
The Packers’ attempt to shore up the defense with Lukas Van Ness in the first round of 2023 and it has failed. That part of the defense is a bit rough right now.
16. New England Patriots
2024: 4-13, last in the AFC East, missed playoffs
Win total: 8.5
The Pats did a better job addressing their holes this offseason than just about any other team. We’ll see how it plays out, but this team might be the most improved in the league.
Biggest Strength
The Patriots already had a very stout secondary anchored by Christian Gonzalez, and then they went out and added Carlton Davis this offseason. Elite.
Biggest Weakness
New England’s receiver room was the worst in the league last year. Signing Stefon Diggs and drafting Kyle Williams could fix things, but they are far from guarantees — Diggs is 31 and coming back from an ACL tear, and Williams is a third-rounder. It’s not without plenty of upside, but it could still be a learning curve.
17. Dallas Cowboys
2024: 7-10, third in the NFC East, missed playoffs
Win total: 7.5
It would have been nice to see the Cowboys address their WR2 in the draft, but now it’s the end of April, they have the sixth-most cap space, and there are some big-name receivers potentially out there on the trade market. You don’t want to have a problem, but in the end it’s not a terrible one to have.
Biggest Strength
Anywhere Micah Parsons plays is always going to be a strength.
Biggest Weakness
The Cowboys signed Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders in free agency, and they drafted Jaydon Blue and Phil Mafah on Day 3. That’s a very low-floor group, and unless Blue surprises and/or Williams can recapture his pre-injury ability, it’s very low ceiling as well.
18. Seattle Seahawks
2024: 10-7, second in the NFC West, missed playoffs
Win total: 8.5
The Seahawks just missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker last year (to be fair, the Rams kind of phoned in Week 18 because they knew they had the division title locked up, so they might have won in a different world). But the team has seen massive change this offseason, shipping out Geno Smith and DK Metcalf and signing Sam Darnold and Cooper Kupp.
Biggest Strength
The offensive line might make their job hard, but Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet are a stout backfield duo, and the Seahawks added the intriguing Damien Martinez in the seventh round.
Biggest Weakness
There’s a reason just about everyone mocked Grey Zabel to Seattle in the draft, and it’s that the team needed help all around the line and Zabel can play anywhere. The problem? Well, they needed help all around the line, and he’s just one man.
19. San Francisco 49ers
2024: 6-11, third in the NFC West, missed playoffs
Win total: 10.5
The 49ers’ still have a 10.5-win over/under line, which seems absurd given how much drain there has been up and down this roster. And with Brock Purdy’s payday still to come, the drain could continue.
Biggest Strength

If there’s any chance Christian McCaffrey can be Christian McCaffrey, the backfield is still bordering on superstardom.
Biggest Weakness
The 49ers have some very strong linebackers and edge defenders, and they will have to, because this defensive interior is severely limited.
20. Pittsburgh Steelers
2024: 10-7, second in the AFC North, lost in the Wild Card Round
Win total: 8.5
You have to assume at this point that Aaron Rodgers (or Kirk Cousins?) will end up in Pittsburgh, simply because it absolutely does not make sense for the Steelers to go into the season with Mason Rudolph, Skylar Thompson and Will Howard as their QB room. But until it happens, that’s the biggest hole any team has right now.
Biggest Strength
T.J. Watt is a perennial DPOY candidate, and the Steelers also added Derrick Harmon in the first round. That part of the defense is going to be tough (as it always is).
Biggest Weakness
Mason Rudolph is comfortably the best quarterback in Pittsburgh. That says a whole lot.
21. Atlanta Falcons
2024: 8-9, second in the NFC South, missed playoffs
Win total: 7.5
After years of focusing on offensive skill positions early in the draft, the Falcons finally focused on the defense this week, spending their first four picks on that side of the ball, including first-round LB Jalon Walker and EDGE James Pearce Jr. Say what you will about the price they paid to trade up for Pearce, but the defense needed the help.
Biggest Strength
Year 1 was a bit of a letdown for Bijan Robinson, but he looked as good as advertised last year, and Tyler Allgeier is one of the league’s better backups.
Biggest Weakness
There are several question marks among the defensive units in Atlanta, but until we see more than a tiny end-of-season sample out of 2024 rookie Michael Penix Jr., I’m going quarterback here. If not “biggest weakness,” then “biggest question mark.”
22. Miami Dolphins
2024: 8-9, second in AFC East, missed playoffs
Win total: 8.5
It looks at this point like Tyreek Hill will return to Miami (though nothing is guaranteed). Now we have to see if 2024’s slip was a blip or the start of age catching up with him.
Biggest Strength
Jaylen Waddle hasn’t been as good as his early career looked, but he and Hill still make an elite receiving duo.
Biggest Weakness
Who will start at safety for the Dolphins this year? Maybe you!
23. Las Vegas Raiders
2024: 4-13, last in AFC West, missed playoffs
Win total: 6.5
The Raiders have changed whole cloth this offseason, with a new GM, head coach, quarterback and running back, among other changes. Everything has Tom Brady’s fingerprints on it. We’ll see if it works out.
Biggest Strength

Brock Bowers was maybe the best in the league at his position as a rookie, and that position is one that notoriously hard to come in and star at right away. Imagine if he gets better.
Biggest Weakness
A rebuild is a process. The Raiders made some big strides this offseason, but there are still question marks, given their receiver room is headed by Jakobi Meyers and rookie Jack Bech, and their corners have massive question marks. But give me the linebacker room, given Elandon Roberts is 31 now and Devin White has started his journeyman era.
24. Arizona Cardinals
2024: 8-9, third in NFC West, missed playoffs
Win total: 8.5
The Cardinals needed some defensive help this offseason and definitely focused on that. The problem is that they paid almost no attention to the offense. The Arizona offense you see in 2025 will be almost exactly the Arizona offense you saw in 2024 (unless Jacoby Brissett is forced into action as a backup).
Biggest Strength
Someday Budda Baker will start to age and become less of a star. Today is not that day. He makes this safety group special.
Biggest Weakness
Budda Baker will have to make this safety group special, because the cornerback room could carry lots of questions, especially if the injury issues that caused Will Johnson to drop to the second round turn out to matter.
25. Jacksonville Jaguars
2024: 4-13, third in AFC South, missed playoffs
Win total: 7.5
The first sentence of the summary of the James Gladstone tenure in Jacksonville will absolutely be whatever happened with Travis Hunter. The Jags traded massive capital up to take Hunter second overall, and he alone might dictate whether Gladstone is the GM for two years or 10.
Biggest Strength
The Jags can’t possibly have done all that for Hunter without designs on playing him heavily on offense and borderline-heavily on defense. But the Brian Thomas Jr./Travis Hunter duo as receivers could be excellent, even if Dyami Brown is the next-best name there.
Biggest Weakness
The Jags have a very deflating offensive line right now, relying on two lower-tier offseason signings in Robert Hainsey and Patrick Mekari (unless third-round rookie Wyatt Milum pops).
26. Indianapolis Colts
2024: 8-9, second in the AFC South, missed playoffs
Win total: 7.5
Obviously it matters what the Colts did this offseason. They added Charvarius Ward and Cam Bynum. They drafted Tyler Warren. There were some big names here. But it’s all going to come down to whether Anthony Richardson Sr. can become anything. If he can, great. If he can’t, the Colts will be starting over.
Biggest Strength
Jonathan Taylor hasn’t put together a full monster season since his 2021 season, but “1,431 yards and 11 touchdowns” not counting as a full monster season says a lot. He’s still one of the game’s best backs.
Biggest Weakness

“We aren’t sure about our quarterback, so we’ll bring in Daniel Jones to compete with him” tells you so, so much.
27. Carolina Panthers
2024: 5-12, third in the NFC South, missed playoffs
Win total: 6.5
Was Bryce Young’s second half last year a sign of things to come, or was it just a small-sample blip? The Panthers’ season will be defined by that.
Biggest Strength
There were lots of reasons the Panthers didn’t really develop last year, but Derrick Brown getting hurt after one game might be the biggest one. He’s the best player on this defense and it isn’t close.
Biggest Weakness
Maybe Ja’Tavion Sanders can pop in his sophomore campaign, but he and Tommy Tremble form one of the worst TE duos in the league for now.
28. New York Giants
2024: 3-14, last in the NFC East, missed playoffs
Win total: 5.5
Coming out of the first round of the draft with an elite edge defender (Abdul Carter) and a developmental high-upside quarterback in Jaxson Dart is at a minimum very intriguing. A front office that is on its last chance really needs to make this work.
Biggest Strength
This defense is adding Carter to Dexter Lawrence II, Brian Burns and Kayvon Thibodeaux. That’s nightmare fuel for opposing offenses.
Biggest Weakness
The Giants built up some of the weaknesses, but there were so many that it was hard to address all of them. Offensive line got neglected, with the team failing to upgrade a bottom-five unit.
29. New York Jets
2024: 5-12, third in the AFC East, missed playoffs
Win total: 5.5
The ill-fated Aaron Rodgers era is over. Justin Fields is in town now, and he’s still looking for his first real success in the NFL.
Biggest Strength
Sauce Gardner might have slipped a little in 2024, but he’s still one of the league’s best corners, and adding Brandon Stephens and Azareye’h Thomas flesh it out.
Biggest Weakness
Maybe this will be the time Fields gets unlocked. The Jets have added to the offensive line and have a strong backfield. But if your hopes are built around a quarterback that the Bears and Steelers have already bailed on, it’s very dodgy.
30. Tennessee Titans
2024: 3-14, last in the AFC South, missed playoffs
Win total: 5.5
Cam Ward time! The Titans spent the first overall pick on Ward, ending the Will Levis era. We’ll see if Ward can be better than the Titans’ last few high QB picks (Levis and Marcus Mariota).
Biggest Strength
Jeffery Simmons has been the best Titan on defense for a few years now, and that remains true.
Biggest Weakness
It’s a good thing Simmons is so good, because the edge defenders around him are dragging this defense down.
31. New Orleans Saints
2024: 5-12, last in the NFC South, missed playoffs
Win total: 6.5
The Derek Carr era in New Orleans is … over? Or not? It’s a big mystery as to whether Carr will be able to play all of 2025, none of 2025 or something in between. Good luck guessing.
Biggest Strength
Even with Alvin Kamara old for a running back (he’s 29 and will be 30 by Week 1), he’s a stud running back, setting a career high in rushing yards last year despite missing three games. He also scored his most touchdowns since 2021. Add in a late pick on Devin Neal, who at the least should be more available than Kendre Miller, and the backfield is pretty good.
Biggest Weakness
Kool-Aid McKinstry was good enough as a rookie, but maybe he shouldn’t be a team’s No. 1 CB. And Isaac Yiadom changed teams this offseason for the sixth time in the last six years. The pass defense might not excite anyone this year.
32. Cleveland Browns
2024: 3-14, last in the AFC North, missed playoffs
Win total: 4.5
The last time a quarterback room was this newsworthy without being very good was … never? What happens among the signal callers in Cleveland will be one of the stories of the season, for better or worse.
Biggest Strength

David Njoku took a while to become a stud tight end, but he’s 28 now (29 in July) and has been an upper-level tight end for a few years now, and add rookie Harold Fannin Jr. to that group and it’s a strong position.
Biggest Weakness
Maybe Kenny Pickett will start at quarterback! Or Joe Flacco! Or Shedeur Sanders or Dillon Gabriel! Or Deshaun Watson (probably not Deshaun Watson). If you have two quarterbacks, you have no quarterbacks. If you have five quarterbacks, you have negative-3 quarterbacks.
