Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (personal), who has missed the last eight games to be with his ailing three-year-old son, will return to the team on Monday. The Dodgers have yet to release an official lineup for Monday's contest against the visiting Philadelphia Phillies and right-hander Aaron Nola, but if Freeman is back with the team, he's likely to be back in the starting lineup. The 34-year-old's son was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome but has been released from the hospital. When Freeman does return to the starting lineup, fantasy managers will want to get him back in their lineups immediately. The eight-time All-Star is having another strong season in his third year in LA, slashing .288/.395/.493 with an .888 OPS, 16 home runs, 67 RBI, five stolen bases and 63 runs scored in 104 games played.UPDATE: The Dodgers activated Freeman from the emergency family leave list and designated infielder Cavan Biggio for assignment in a corresponding move.

Oakland Athletics shortstop prospect Jacob Wilson (hamstring) is taking batting practice before Monday's series opener against the visiting Chicago White Sox. Wilson is making good progress from a left-hamstring strain, but the A's still plan on being cautious with his hamstring injury. The team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline, got a hit in his first MLB at-bat on July 21 but then suffered his hamstring injury shortly thereafter. The 22-year-old former sixth overall pick last year out of Grand Canyon University probably won't be an option to return to Oakland for another couple of weeks, which means he's quickly running out of time to contribute to fantasy lineups in 2024. In three different minor-league levels this year before being called up, Wilson hit an absurd .438/.475/.687 with a 1.162 OPS, seven home runs, 34 RBI and 44 runs scored in 46 games.

Oakland Athletics closer Mason Miller (finger) threw 15 pitches in a live batting practice session on Monday and came away feeling healthy. Miller could be activated from the 15-day injured list when he's eligible to return on Friday. Miller threw his first BP session on Monday after playing catch for the first time without a cast on his left (non-throwing) hand on Saturday. The 25-year-old flamethrower is recovering from a fractured pinkie finger on his left hand and should immediately return to the A's closing role this week when he's activated. There's no reason why Miller should be floating around any waiver wires. While Miller doesn't see a ton of save chances in Oakland, he does have 15 saves and a whopping 70 strikeouts in 40 2/3 innings this year. Until Miller is able to return later this week, Tyler Ferguson should see any save chances that may arise for the A's.

Oakland Athletics infielder Abraham Toro will head to the bench on Monday with the team facing the visiting Chicago White Sox. With Toro out, Darell Hernaiz will get the start at third base and will bat eighth in the order against White Sox left-hander Ky Bush, who is making his major-league debut. Toro will get a break for the A's after starting in each of the previous four games. The 27-year-old switch-hitting infielder has been better against lefty pitchers this year, hitting .280 (21-for-75), but with only one of his six home runs. Toro has struggled since coming off the injured list on July 21, going 7-for-37 (.189) with two doubles, two RBI, a stolen base and four strikeouts in 11 games played. He's mainly a corner-infield option in AL-only leagues in the weak A's offense. Hernaiz is hitting .171 (12-for-70) and is searching for his first homer in his first year in the big leagues in 2024.

Minnesota Twins infielders Jose Miranda and Brooks Lee are absent from the starting lineup at Wrigley Field on Monday against the hosting Chicago Cubs. Royce Lewis is playing third base and is batting third, while Matt Wallner will operate as the designated hitter and bat cleanup against Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Austin Martin is at the keystone and batting ninth for the Twins. Miranda was on fire at the dish before going on the injured list before the All-Star break and has gone 6-for-20 (.300) with two doubles and an RBI in six games since coming off the IL on July 27. Lee started in 24 straight games after his first big-league call-up but will head to the bench for the second straight day. The 23-year-old has gone 4-for-23 (.174) since Miranda returned from the IL and will need to start swinging a hotter bat to hold off Martin at second base.
