Freddie Freeman Homers Twice, Plates Five Monday

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman had a great offensive performance in Monday's 11-6 win over the division-rival Diamondbacks. Freeman went 2-for-3 with a pair of two-run home runs, five RBI, and a walk. The 34-year-old took Eduardo Rodriguez deep in the third inning, sneaking the ball just over the left-field fence. His eighth-inning blast off Slade Cecconi was more definitive, landing 435 feet over the left-center wall. Freeman, who has been a top fantasy pick for some time now, hasn't been quite as good this season by his standards. However, he has produced plenty of fantasy value, slashing .288/.383/.498 with 21 HR, 74 runs scored, 83 RBI, and six stolen bases in 549 plate appearances.

Freddie Freeman To Return On Friday

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that first baseman Freddie Freeman (finger) will be back in the starting lineup for the start of a huge series on Friday versus the division-rival Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Freeman, who suffered a hairline fracture in his finger back on Aug. 17, has been held out of the last three games. It's no secret that the 34-year-old left-handed-hitting All-Star isn't 100% and might not be for the rest of the season. He's gone just 3-for-23 (.130) with two doubles, an RBI, two walks and seven strikeouts in six games since his injury, and it will be interesting to see how well he fares at the plate moving forward. If Freeman needs more rest days down the stretch, utility man Enrique Hernandez is the top option to replace him at the cold corner after doing so the last few days. Unless Freeman starts really struggling, fantasy managers should get him back in their lineups on Friday.

Freddie Freeman Missing Another Game

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman (finger) is out of the starting lineup for a third straight game on Thursday in the series finale against the Baltimore Orioles at Dodger Stadium. Veteran utility man Enrique Hernandez will make another start at first and will hit sixth for the Blue against Orioles rookie left-hander Cade Povich. Freeman initially suffered a hairline fracture in his right middle finger on Aug. 17 but was playing through the injury before this week. In the six games that he's played in since the injury, though, he's gone 3-for-23 (.130) with two doubles, an RBI, two walks and seven strikeouts, so perhaps his finger is giving him more issues than initially expected. If Freeman ends up needing a stint on the injured list, Hernandez would soak up even more playing time in the final month of the regular season. Hernandez has hit just .218 in 303 at-bats in 2024 with nine homers and 33 RBI.UPDATE: Manager Dave Roberts said that Freeman will be back in the starting lineup for the start of a big series on Friday in Arizona against the Diamondbacks.
