Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz had another electric game at the plate in Monday's 10-3 win over the Marlins. De La Cruz went 4-for-5 with two doubles, a solo home run, and a two-run HR. The 22-year-old got things started by driving a first-inning Roddery Munoz cutter over the right-field wall for a two-run shot and added an even deeper drive to right field in the eighth inning off of Shaun Anderson. He had gone hitless in August, so it was nice to see a big game. De La Cruz has provided everything fantasy managers were hoping for, slashing .261/.347/.496 with 20 HR, 73 runs scored, 48 RBI, and 57 stolen bases in 474 plate appearances.

The Colorado Rockies are promoting outfield prospect Yanquiel Fernandez to Triple-A Hartford. The 21-year-old has spent the entire season at Double-A Hartford, posting an up-and-down season to this point. The Cuban hit .224 in April, .307 in May, .247 in June, and finally .320 in July/August, prompting his promotion. Fernandez finished with a .283/.339/.439 slashline with 10 home runs in 88 games and lowered his K% year-over-year at Double-A from 32.9% to just 19.1%. The Rockies' No. 4 prospect (MLB No. 64) has big-time power and Coors Field should treat him well when he makes it there, which should be sometime next season.

Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Brewer Hicklen went 2-for-2 with two walks and two stolen bases on Sunday for Triple-A Nashville. The former seventh-round draft pick is having a great season for the Sounds, posting a strong .272-19-62-59-36 line in 86 games. In the past, the strikeout rate has been too high at 30.1% from 2017-2023, but Hicklen has brought it down to a more palatable 27.1% this season. At 28 years old, he's not a youngster anymore, but with just a four-game MLB cameo back in 2022, it seems he's due for another shot in the big leagues. With his power-speed combo, don't be surprised if he sees some time with the Brewers down the stretch.

The Seattle Mariners promoted shortstop prospect Colt Emerson from Single-A Modesto to High-A Everett on Monday. Emerson, the club's No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline, earned the promotion by hitting .293/.440/.427 with an .867 OPS, two home runs, 25 RBI, six stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 40 games at Modesto. The 19-year-old left-handed hitter was the 22nd overall pick in last year's draft and stands at 6-foot-1, 195 pounds. Emerson isn't expected to be a big power guy, but a low strikeout rate and high walk rate should make him a candidate to continue to hit for a high average as he ascends the Mariners' minor-league system. He doesn't have a ton of speed on the basepaths and could eventually be moved to third base down the road. It would be a bit of a surprise if Emerson reached the big leagues in 2025, but it's not out of the question if he takes a big step forward in the minors early on next season.

San Francisco Giants infielder Wilmer Flores (knee) traveled to Los Angeles on Monday to undergo a Tenex procedure on his right knee with Dr. Steve Yoon that is scheduled for Tuesday. Flores is likely not going to be able to resume baseball activities for at least a couple of weeks after he goes under the knife, which may make it difficult for him to rejoin the Giants before the end of the regular season at the end of September. The 32-year-old veteran corner infielder hadn't been much help to fantasy managers in NL-only formats this year anyway, slashing just .206/.277/.318 with a .595 OPS, four home runs, 26 RBI and 19 runs scored in 214 at-bats as a utility infielder on the short side of a platoon at first base. The Giants acquired Mark Canha from the Detroit Tigers at last week's trade deadline, and he has essentially taken over first-base duties in San Fran against left-handers.
