Why is ADP important for Best Ball
Understanding a players’ average draft position will help you plan ahead for your best ball drafts to win the tournament or league. If you know where a player is being drafted (on average), it lets you know if you can wait another round to add them to your team, or if you need to pull the trigger now.
You can also study ADP trends to see which players are rising or falling – or which players you think are undervalued or overvalued.
Can I use Underdog ADP as best ball rankings?
Kind of. ADP is likely to be close to industry consensus rankings because ADP is really just a reflection of where drafters actually rank certain players.
But ADP is not a perfect substitute for rankings – especially in best ball. That’s because drafters will often reach on certain players to complete a stack. You can find all of our staff’s rankings here.
Here’s a perfect example: In 2022, Stefon Diggs had an ADP of about 8th overall. Which player is going exactly two rounds later? His QB, Josh Allen. And which player is going exactly one round after that? The other WR in Buffalo, Gabriel Davis.
But as FTN’s Underdog Best Ball Rankings for 2024 show, some of those players might be “reaches” based purely on rankings. But if you want to complete a stack, you might have to reach. Such is the way of the game in best ball!
