As we head into Week 9 of the fantasy football season, lineups need to be set, and with that comes some tough decisions. As we head into Week 9 aka bye-mageddon, the stakes get even more prominent as the playoffs draw closer. As a result, this week’s start/sit decisions are that much more critical.
One of the most popular tools here at FTN is our fantasy football rankings. Each week, we bring you non-PPR, PPR and half-PPR rankings to help you win your league.
Throughout the season, I will break down what players our FTN rankers prefer more (or less) than the expert consensus rankings at FantasyPros. For this article, I will be looking at the half-PPR format.
When it comes to the quarterback position both FTN and the ECR don’t have many differences within the entirety of the quarterback ranks.
We only have a few sets of quarterbacks that include Kirk Cousins and Justin Fields flipped inside the top 12. Our FTN rankers believe Cousins is more likely to finish inside the top 10 than Fields.
Additionally, Our FTN crew believes Aaron Rodgers is a top-12 option this week, while the ECR believes that Tom Brady is inside the top 12 over Rodgers.
In a week that we have six teams on bye, the ECR and FTN are relatively aligned even within the running back ranks.
The most significant gap between the ECR and FTN is with Jonathan Taylor, who our FTN crew has four spots higher than the ECR. (Obviously, everyone needs to monitor his health for Sunday.)
After this our FTN crew is lower on Khalil Herbert, Damien Harris and Eno Benjamin, all of whom are three spots lower than the ECR and all outside the top 24.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire is a player our FTN crew is a bit more in on this week as we have him inside the top 30 as they face the Titans Sunday.
We are also higher on both the Jet running backs this week as well even in a tough matchup with the vaunted Bills defense.
The largest difference between our FTN crew and the ECR is with Mark Andrews as our crew believes that he is still a top-five option this week while the ECR believes he’s barely a top-10 option, probably concerned about his injury.
Robert Tonyan is a player our FTN crew is lower on than the ECR as we have him just sneaking into the top 10 as the ECR has him well inside it.
Additionally, Hayden Hurst is a player our FTN rankers believe may struggle to get inside the top 12, while the ECR views him as a top-10 option.
