Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte left Friday's game with what manager Torey Lovullo described as back tightness and is considered day-to-day for now. Marte is having one of his best seasons thus far, posting a .284-17-51-59-4 line with a .363 wOBA and 136 wRC+. Veteran Kevin Newman could fill in for Marte if he's unable to go on Saturday.
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte turned in a strong performance at the plate in his team's 5-4 win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday. Marte went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBI to help power his team to the win. The veteran infielder kicked off the scoring in the game with a two-run homer off Minnesota starter Joe Ryan in the first inning. He later added an RBI single in the seventh inning, a hit which wound up being the game-winner. Marte is having an excellent season for Arizona, hitting .280 with 16 homers, 51 runs, 46 RBI, and three steals across 300 at-bats. If he stays healthy, Marte has a good shot at breaking his previous career-high in homers of 32, which was set back in 2019.
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte is getting a day of rest in Friday's contest in Philadelphia against the Phillies. Rookie infielder Blaze Alexander will take his place at second base and will bat in the eight-hole against Phillies right-hander Taijuan Walker. As far as we know, it looks like Marte is just getting a day to rest after serving as the designated hitter for Arizona on Thursday. The 30-year-old Dominican switch-hitter is a must-start in all fantasy leagues when he's active, as he's hit a productive .280 (81-for-289) with 15 home runs, 42 RBI, three steals and 50 runs scored this year. Marte has been even better in June, going 21-for-63 (.333) with five long balls, three doubles, 13 RBI, 10 walks and two steals in 17 games. Alexander has swung the bat well in his first 51 MLB games, but he'll have limited upside in the eight-hole for DFS managers.
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte went 2-for-5 with a home run in Friday's 10-3 loss to the Padres. Marte's home run was a two-run shot and 13th of the year, second-most among second basemen. Marte had a 21-game hit streak come to an end in May and subsequently went 2-for-31 (.065) over the next eight games, but has caught fire again, going 11-for-22 (.500) over the last six games with four multi-hit performances which includes three home runs.
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte went 3-for-3 with two homers and three RBI in a 5-4 win over the New York Mets on Sunday. Marte led off the affair with a solo shot in the first inning and then went deep again in the ninth with a runner on. It was Marte's 11th and 12th homers of the season, but he had just one in his last 17 games, so the outburst hopefully signals a return to his early season form. The switch-hitting infielder is now slashing .270/.330/.502 with 39 runs, 12 homers, 32 RBI, and a stolen base. He should be a solid four-category contributor the rest of the way.
