Diamondbacks Sign Luis Guillorme

The Arizona Diamondbacks signed free-agent infielder Luis Guillorme on Tuesday, according to sources. Guillorme is active and with Arizona on Tuesday at loanDepot Park in Miami and will serve as extra infield depth for the Snakes with All-Star second baseman Ketel Marte (ankle) currently on the 10-day injured list. The 29-year-old was recently released by the Los Angeles Angels after hitting .231/.302/.298 with a .600 OPS, no home runs and three RBI in 50 games. He opened the year with the Atlanta Braves and went 3-for-20 with three RBI in nine games there. Guillorme is more attractive for his defensive abilities and second and third base and will basically be a bench bat from the left side for however long he stays with the Diamondbacks. Guillorme isn't really much of a fantasy option, even in the deepest of NL-only leagues.

Luis Guillorme Back In the Lineup Saturday

Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Guillorme (back) will return to the starting lineup for Saturday's contest against the hosting Oakland A's. The 29-year-old missed the second-half opener on Friday after being stretched for the first-half finale on July 14 due to back tightness but will return to the keystone and hit ninth on Saturday against A's righty Mitch Spence. Known more for his defense, Guillorme is hitting just .226 without a homer and one stolen base across 50 games on the season while his 71 wRC+ sits 29% below the league average. A career .256 hitter with only five homers and five steals in 385 career games, Guillorme continues to be kept well off the fantasy radar.

Angels Acquire Luis Guillorme From Braves

The Los Angeles Angels acquired infielder Luis Guillorme from the Atlanta Braves on Thursday in exchange for cash considerations, according to sources. The 29-year-old had signed a one-year, $1.1 million deal with the Braves in the offseason. Guillorme only appeared in nine games for Atlanta, going 3-for-20 (.150) with three RBI in 21 plate appearances. A backup infielder with the Braves, Guillorme will now have a much better shot at playing time in Anaheim, mainly at third base with Anthony Rendon (hamstring) out until at least late June and probably longer. Guillorme can provide infield versatility and gives the Halos a nice contact hitter from the left side, but his fantasy impact will likely be limited to AL-only leagues, depending on how much he actually plays. He's a career .258/.341/.331 hitter with only five homers, 51 RBI and four steals in seven big-league seasons.
