According to Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Banner, free-agent outfielder Randal Grichuk is viewed as an "intriguing" free-agent option for the Baltimore Orioles. Kostka reported that Grichuk could be deployed in a platoon role as he performed at an elite level against southpaws last season. Facing left-handers, the 33-year-old boasted an impressive .319/.386/.528 line with six home runs and 32 RBI. However, facing right-handed pitcher, Grichuk held a modest .242/.274/.527 line. With how well Ryan O'Hearn hit right-handed pitching last season (.439 SLG/.777 OPS), Grichuk could be deployed as a great alternative option facing southpaws. Fantasy managers should continue monitoring his status during the offseason, as he could be a viable option in deeper five-outfielder formats, albeit in a limited role.
Arizona Diamondbacks designated hitter Randal Grichuk (lower body) returned to the lineup Wednesday and went 2-for-4 with a double and a home run in the 9-4 win over the Rockies, recording an RBI and two runs scored in the contest. It was the third time the 33-year-old has homered in his last four games, going 7-for-12 (.583) with six extra-base hits, eight RBI, and five runs over that stretch. Both of his hits came off of left-handed starter Austin Gomber. Grichuk has excelled against LHP this season, slashing .314/.377/.526 against them (156 AB) versus .250/.284/.524 against RHP (84 AB). For the season, the veteran owns a respectable .292-11-42-37-0 line overall in just 98 games.
Arizona Diamondbacks veteran outfielder Randal Grichuk (lower body) is back in the starting lineup as the designated hitter and is batting third for Wednesday's series finale against the division-rival Colorado Rockies and left-hander Austin Gomber at hitter-friendly Coors Field. Grichuk will return to the lineup after he was scratched from Sunday's lineup due to lower-body tightness, and he sat out each of the last two games of the series against his old team before returning on Wednesday. The 33-year-old has been a platoon player for the Snakes in 2024 and has hit an impressive .288/.344/.508 with an .852 OPS, 10 home runs and 41 RBI in his 97 games played. He's been a lefty killer as well, hitting .305 (47-for-154) with half of his 10 homers against southpaws, making him an attractive DFS play on Wednesday at Coors Field.
