Jordan Montgomery To Throw Bullpen Session On Saturday

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery (finger) is scheduled to throw a bullpen session on Saturday. The left-hander has been delayed to start the spring due to a lingering finger issue. The hope is that Montgomery will be able to get back on the mound soon. The southpaw is currently battling for one of the final spots in the starting rotation. Montgomery is coming off a horrendous 2024 campaign where he posted a 6.23 ERA across 25 appearances. The left-hander should rebound in 2025, but he still remains a shaky fantasy option out of the gate.

Jordan Montgomery To Throw On Tuesday Or Wednesday

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Jordan Montgomery (finger) is expected to throw on Tuesday or Wednesday, according to manager Torey Lovullo. The southpaw was supposed to throw last week, but has now been pushed back until possibly Tuesday. Fantasy managers shouldn't be too concerned as the D-Backs are likely just being cautious early in camp. Montgomery will be competing for a spot in the starting rotation after a horrendous 2024 campaign. The 32-year-old does have a good track record, but it's tough to trust him after posting a 6.23 ERA last season.

Jordan Montgomery Dealing With Finger Strain

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Jordan Montgomery (finger) underwent imaging for a left index-finger strain, but he said the plan is for him to throw again in a couple of days. "It seems like it's fairly mild. He doesn't seem overly concerned by it... We'll manage as we go," executive vice president and general manager Mike Hazen said. It was revealed that Montgomery dropped 20-25 pounds in the offseason after a very disappointing first year in Arizona in 2024, but the 32-year-old southpaw will be slightly behind at the start of camp due to his finger injury. It shouldn't keep him from being ready for Opening Day in late March, but it's just something else that will turn fantasy managers off to Montgomery as he looks for a bounce-back campaign. With low strikeout totals in his career and a drop in velocity last year, fantasy managers should be avoiding him in mixed leagues this spring.
