Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Hits Home Run No. 8

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a key home run in the third inning against Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Landon Knack to help the D-backs knock off their division rivals on Monday night by a score of 9-5. Gurriel finished the game 1-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI, and a walk. His two-run homer extended Arizona's lead to 5-0 at the time and gave him four home runs in his last 15 games. Over his last 18 games, Gurriel is hitting .310 with a .421 wOBA and 41.7% hard-hit rate. He's also had eight barrels in those 18 games after just six barrels in his first 26 games. The 31-year-old is turning things around after a slow start and continues to hit in a premium lineup spot, especially against left-handed starting pitchers. He can be a solid pickup from waiver wires if you need solid all-around hitting contributions from an outfielder.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Resting On Saturday

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gurriel came up with a clutch hit on Friday when he blasted a game-tying grand slam and totaled five RBI in the loss. The right-handed slugger has played in 12 straight games, so he'll get a routine rest day on Saturday. As a result, Tim Tawa will get the start in left field and bat eighth versus right-hander Dustin May. Fantasy managers should expect Gurriel to be back in the lineup following Saturday's game.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. Launches Grand Slam, Racks Up Five RBI On Friday

Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 1-for-5 with a grand slam and an RBI groundout in Friday's 14-11 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Gurriel hit an RBI groundout in the bottom of the fourth inning to cut the Dodgers' lead to 8-4. In his next at-bat, the 31-year-old belted a grand slam off Dodgers pitcher Anthony Banda in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the game 8-8. His home run traveled 401 feet with an exit velocity of 105.9 mph. He has now collected a hit in six of his last nine games and is hitting .306 (11-for-36) with three home runs and 10 RBI in May. Overall, Gurriel is slashing .213/.238/.418 with seven home runs, 25 RBI, 14 runs, and a stolen base across 151 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should continue to roll with Gurriel while he's swinging a hot bat as he looks to build on Friday's performance in this weekend's series against Los Angeles.
