The 29-year-old now owns a 4.37 ERA, 1.21 WHIP, and 49 strikeouts across 45 1/3 innings this season. Gallen has looked sharper in recent outings, and the Diamondbacks have reason to be encouraged by his form. He is scheduled to start at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers this weekend.

That being said, he has a strong track record over his career, so fantasy managers will want to stay patient with him. Hopefully his taming of a tough Mets lineup on Thursday is the first step in the right direction for Gallen.

The Yankees and their torpedo bats have gained a lot of attention over the recent days, but the bats don't matter if they don't make contact. Gallen collected 24 whiffs on the night for a whiff rate of 57%. His knuckle curveball was the most effective of his pitches, collecting 13 whiffs all on its own. He'll look to carry this momentum into his next start, currently lined up to be against the Orioles.
