Arjun Nimmala Has Four-Hit Game At Single-A

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop prospect Arjun Nimmala recorded four hits in Tuesday's game for Single-A Dunedin. In August alone, Nimmala has recorded six multi-hit games, 11 extra-base hits, and 11 RBI. The 18-year-old is hitting .227/.308/.477 in 67 games at High-A this season with 13 homers and 38 RBI. The Blue Jays' No. 5 prospect is a ways away from the big leagues at just 18 years old, but he has shown some promise lately at Single-A as he adjusts to professional baseball. There is a lot of potential with Nimmala.

Jose Altuve Getting A Breather On Wednesday

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is getting a day off in Wednesday's series finale at Minute Maid Park against the Boston Red Sox. Mauricio Dubon will start at the keystone and will hit seventh for the Astros against Red Sox right-hander Cooper Criswell. Third baseman Alex Bregman (elbow) is returning from a five-game absence and will serve as the designated hitter and bat in Altuve's customary leadoff spot. Altuve will get his first day of rest since July 7. Since July 9, he's hit .275 (39-for-142) with three home runs, five doubles, 12 RBI, five steals and 18 runs scored in 35 games played. The veteran second baseman is currently riding a modest five-game hitting streak, going 7-for-21 (.333) with a homer, double, three RBI and three stolen bases. Altuve is having a fine bounce-back season in 2024 and is a must-start in all fantasy lineups when he's on the field.

Alex Bregman Back In As The DH On Wednesday

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (elbow) is back in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Boston Red Sox and right-hander Cooper Criswell at Minute Maid Park, serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff. Rookie Shay Whitcomb is getting yet another start at third base and is hitting in the eight-hole. Bregman had missed each of the team's last five games due to swelling in the back of his right elbow, but he was adamant all along that it wasn't that serious and that he'd avoid a trip to the injured list. The 30-year-old could play third base if needed, but the Astros have elected to ease him back into the fold as the DH. Fantasy managers will want to get Bregman back in their starting lineups, as he's been on a tear in August, hitting .340 (18-for-53) with five homers, five doubles and eight RBI in 12 games. Hopefully, he can pick up where he left off.

Josh Smith Sitting Against Pirates

Texas Rangers infielder Josh Smith is drawing out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Globe Life Field. Adolis Garcia will serve as the designated hitter and will bat cleanup, while Travis Jankowski makes the start in right field and will hit eighth against Pirates right-hander Domingo German. Due to injuries, mainly Josh Jung's broken wrist suffered early in the year, Smith has played in a career-high 119 games in 2024 in his third year in the big leagues. He's currently hitting .266/.355/.416 with a .771 OPS, 12 home runs, 51 RBI and eight stolen bases and has been a pleasant surprise for an overall disappointing Rangers team after they won their first-ever World Series last fall. While Smith has been a bright spot, the 27-year-old has struggled in the second half, hitting .198 (23-for-116) with two homers, four doubles, 11 RBI, three steals and 28 K's in 29 games.

Tyler O'Neill Out For Red Sox

Boston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill is not in the team's starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale at Minute Maid Park against the Houston Astros. With O'Neill grabbing some pine to rest up, Rob Refsnyder will make the start in left field and will bat fifth against Astros right-hander Justin Verlander (neck), who is coming off the injured list to make his first MLB start since June. O'Neill returned from a leg infection last weekend and has gone 2-for-15 with eight strikeouts in four games played, so he could use a day off. The 29-year-old has had a solid first season in Boston with 22 home runs, 46 RBI and 60 runs scored to go along with a .262/.351/.524 slash line and .875 OPS. Refsnyder is mostly in consideration as a DFS sleeper when he's higher up in Boston's batting order and facing left-handed pitchers.
