Washington Nationals catcher prospect Drew Millas went 2-for-4 with a solo home run on Tuesday for Triple-A Rochester. Millas has performed rather well through 11 games in August, slashing .256/.356/.590 with seven extra-base hits and two stolen bases. In 57 games in Triple-A this season, he's slashing .300/.351/.517 with 12 doubles, nine homers, 33 RBI, nine steals, and 17:32 BB/SO. Millas has spent a few brief stints with the Nationals this season, yet the results have been underwhelming. Despite this, Millas' Triple-A performance suggests he could be a solid big-league backstop.

Texas Rangers right-hander Max Scherzer (shoulder) will pitch for the Rangers against the Chicago White Sox next week "if all goes well" with his minor-league rehab start on Friday with Double-A Frisco, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Scherzer threw a bullpen session on Tuesday. "All went well, really well. He feels good, we like where he's at," Bochy said. The 40-year-old three-time Cy Young winner hasn't pitched in the big leagues since July 30 due to right-shoulder fatigue and has made only eight starts in 2024 due to various injuries. Scherzer also isn't the dominant fantasy ace anymore that we've all come to know, but it still might be pretty hard to pass him up as a streamer in his potential return from the injured list next week against the lowly White Sox. Depending on how many pitches he throws in his rehab start on Friday, Scherzer could very well be facing a pitch-count restriction next week.

Oakland Athletics utility player Nick Allen went 3-for-4 with a solo home run on Tuesday for Triple-A Las Vegas. This was just one of many outstanding performances from Allen in August. Through 17 games, he's gone 29-for-74 (.392 AVG) with eight doubles, five homers, 13 RBI, seven stolen bases, and 10:7 BB/SO. Allen started the 2024 season with the A's but was ultimately sent down in early May due to poor performance (.470 OPS). However, since being demoted, he's slashed .344/.427/.498 with 24 doubles, seven homers, 50 RBI, 16 steals, and 44:40 BB/SO. Though his first few stints in the majors have been rough, Allen clearly has enough talent to warrant some notoriety.

San Francisco Giants first baseman/outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr. and outfielders Michael Conforto and Mike Yastrzemski are all out of Wednesday's series finale against the Chicago White Sox at Oracle Park against All-Star left-hander Garrett Crochet. Mark Canha is starting at first base and batting second, rookie Grant McCray is in center field and hitting ninth, and Jerar Encarnacion is in right field and in the five-hold. Fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised at all that any of these three left-handed hitters are sitting out with a southpaw on the mound. Wade has only had 34 plate appearances against lefties in 2024. Crochet has been one of the most dominant pitchers in all of baseball this year, so none of Canha, McCray or Encarnacion should be particularly attractive DFS sleepers on Wednesday. Canha makes the most sense given his lineup spot and his .272 average (25-for-92) against lefties in 2024.

Chicago White Sox infielder/outfielder Miguel Vargas is out of the team's starting lineup on Wednesday for the series finale at Oracle Park against the San Francisco Giants. With Vargas on the bench, Lenyn Sosa will start at third base and will bat seventh against Giants right-hander Logan Webb. Vargas, who was acquired from the Los Angeles Dodgers at the deadline in late July in the trade that sent right-hander Jack Flaherty to LA, could find himself on the bench more often if he continues to slump at the plate. The 24-year-old Cuban has gone just 5-for-54 (.093) with a homer, double, three RBI and 17 strikeouts in 16 games with a bigger role in his move to Chicago. Overall this year, he's hit just .176/.271/.312 with four home runs, 12 RBI and 14 runs scored in 125 at-bats. Vargas is losing his fantasy appeal in AL-only leagues quickly.
