Vintage Robbie Ray Shows Up In Victory

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Robbie Ray was dominant in Tuesday's victory versus the Chicago White Sox. The veteran tossed a season-high 6 2/3 innings and allowed three hits, one run, no walks and struck out nine during the contest. It was his best start since returning from injury in late July. Since his return, Ray is 3-2 with a 4.88 ERA and 12.69 K/9 in his first six starts. Ray should continue to shake off the rust and Tuesday's outing was a sign of how good the left-hander can be at full strength, even against a poor White Sox lineup. If he is still available on the waiver wire, now would likely be the last chance to scoop up the veteran for the stretch run as he can help in a big way, especially in the strikeout department. Next up for Ray will be a matchup versus Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday as part of a two-start week that also features a tasty matchup versus the Miami Marlins.

Jasson Dominguez Racks Up Four Hits

New York Yankees outfield prospect Jasson Dominguez recorded a four-hit night for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. It was his second four-hit performance at Triple-A this season, bringing his slash line with the RailRiders to .305/.365/.438. Dominguez was called up briefly as the 27th man on Sunday for the Yankees but returned to the minors. He wasted little time ramping back up his hitting with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 21-year-old switch hitter has battled injury this season but is beginning to round into form as he seeks a late-season call-up to New York.

Anthony Volpe Swipes Two Bags

New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe went 2-for-4 with a single, double and two stolen bases in Tuesday's victory versus the Cleveland Guardians. Volpe has been ice-cold of late with just five hits over his previous 46 at-bats with no stolen bases entering the contest, but he was able to show what he was capable with a strong performance Tuesday evening. The young shortstop has been a rollercoaster on the season, as at times showing his ability to help across the board and other times, being in long slumps that make him frustrating to start. Overall, Volpe is now hitting .249 with 11 homers, 47 RBI and 22 stolen bases and the hope is Tuesday's big game can help him turn things around down the stretch.

Travis Sykora Turns In Another Good Outing At Single-A

Washington Nationals pitching prospect Travis Sykora continued a stellar August with another solid outing on Tuesday for Single-A Fredericksburg. In his latest outing, Sykora went five innings, allowing three hits and one earned run with 10 strikeouts and no walks. In four August starts, the 20-year-old is 3-0 with a 1.31 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. In that span, the right-hander has recorded 33 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings with just two walks. Sykora seems to have mastered Single-A and a promotion may be in line before the end of the season.

Enrique Bradfield Jr. Fills Stat Line At Double-A

Baltimore Orioles outfield prospect Enrique Bradfield Jr. recorded three hits with two RBI and two stolen bases for Double-A Bowie on Tuesday. Bradfield is second in all of minor-league baseball with 63 stolen bases across two levels this season. In six games at Double-A, Bradfield is hitting .318/.500/.455 with four RBI and four steals. The Vanderbilt product is an elite base-stealer but does not offer a ton of power. Nonetheless, the 22-year-old has the ability to be a plus contributor in the batting average and runs categories while providing next-level stolen base totals. He is a name to keep an eye on in the next few years.
