Jason Heyward Plays Hero On Tuesday

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Jason Heyward hit a pinch-hit home run in his only at-bat to lead his team to victory over the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday. Heyward hit the home run off Mariners closer Andres Munoz in the bottom of the eighth inning and then remained in the game for defense. The veteran has struggled for the most part this season in a platoon role and is hitting .208 with six homers, 28 RBI and four stolen bases over 173 at-bats. Despite his late-game heroics, Heyward finds most of his time on the bench and is best served as a defensive replacement. He can safely remain on the waiver wire in all formats.

Shane Baz Excels In First Victory

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Shane Baz put together his best start of the season on Tuesday versus the Oakland Athletics to earn his first victory of the season. Baz tossed 7 2/3 innings of scoreless ball and allowed three hits, three walks and struck out four on the evening. Although the walks weren't ideal, Baz was pretty much dominant throughout the evening in a 1-0 victory. The right-hander got a late start to the season as he recovered from Tommy John surgery, but he has pitched well since his return with a 3.48 ERA to go along with 36 strikeouts in 44 innings over his first eight starts. Baz has continued to pitch longer into games and is worth rostering in deeper leagues. Next up for Baz will be a date with the Los Angeles Dodgers on Sunday, a matchup that should be avoided.

Jurickson Profar Hits 20th Home Run

San Diego Padres outfielder Jurickson Profar continued his career year in Tuesday's victory versus the Minnesota Twins. Profar went 1-for-4 on the evening, but his lone hit was a big one. In the bottom of the eighth inning with the Padres down two runs, Profar crushed a three-run home run to give San Diego the lead and eventually the victory. Profar was once one of the top prospects in the game, and although he has found success as a utilityman, he has never put together the season he has in 2024 as a regular. On the year, Profar is now hitting .290 with 20 homers, 76 RBI and seven stolen bases. As one of the waiver-wire gems of the 2024 season, Profar should continue to be rostered universally.

Max Muncy Hits Another Home Run

Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy went 1-for-2 with two runs, two walks and a solo home run in Tuesday's victory versus the Seattle Mariners. The veteran returned from the injured list on Monday and has now homered in consecutive contests. Muncy missed just over three months with a strained oblique, but is rewarding managers that stashed him with some power early on. Although the Dodgers may elect to give Muncy some regular days off amongst his return, he is still a valuable member in most formats due to his power, which does come at the expensive of a low batting average. Muncy will look to homer in third consecutive game on Wednesday versus the Mariners in a tough matchup versus starting pitcher Logan Gilbert.

Ryan Jeffers Continues To Show Power

Minnesota Twins catcher Ryan Jeffers went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's loss versus the San Diego Padres. The power hitting catcher now has 20 homers on the season to go along with 59 RBI and a .233 batting average in 326 at-bats. Jeffers has now homered three times over his last 15 at-bats as his power continues to surge. Despite his ability to go yard, he has been in a pretty even timeshare for most of the season with backstop Christian Vazquez. Because of his inconsistent play, Jeffers is hard to recommend on a daily basis in one-catcher leagues, but he is worth rostering in two-catcher formats.
