Yandy Diaz Leaves Game Early With Bruised Wrist

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz was taken out of Sunday's game against the Houston Astros early after fielding a hard-hit grounder that struck him in the left wrist. Diaz stayed in the game directly after but eventually had to come out. Fortunately, the X-rays came back negative and the Rays are considering Diaz day-to-day. He was 1-for-2 with a walk before being taken out. The 32-year-old is having a down season compared to his breakout 2023, but in the last month he's batting .323 with a .940 OPS, so maybe things are taking a turn for the better.

Byron Buxton Removed Early On Sunday

Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton was removed early during Sunday's game against the Chicago White Sox. The speedy outfielder collided into the wall making an incredible catch to end the sixth inning. After that, Buxton was removed from the game but it was likely for precautionary reasons. The Twins were already running away with the game so there was no reason to push Buxton back out there. He was checked out by the medical staff and appears to be fine going forward. Fantasy managers should double check on Monday just in case something does pop up.

A.J. Puk Earns Save On Sunday

Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher A.J. Puk was called upon to hold a one-run lead versus the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sunday. Originally, Ryan Thompson started the ninth inning but got into trouble which forced manager Torey Lovullo to change pitchers. Puk got the final two outs of the game to earn himself his second save of the season. The closer role is wide open in Arizona right now. That being said, Puk could be in line for more save chances if he continues to pitch well.

Ian Happ Scratched On Sunday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ (shoulder) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. The switch-hitter injured his shoulder while running into the wall during Saturday's game. It's believed to be a minor issue that will hopefully only force Happ to miss one game. In his absence, Mike Tauchman will bat sixth and play left field versus right-hander Miles Mikolas. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Wilyer Abreu Hits A Pair Of Homers

Boston Red Sox outfielder Wilyer Abreu came ready to play during Sunday's game against the Texas Rangers. Abreu has been hot with the bat recently and that continued during Sunday's contest. He went 2-for-4 with a pair of home runs and four RBI in the 7-2 victory. Abreu has three long balls during the first three games of August. He is hitting well over .300 over his last 25 games or so. Fantasy managers in need of another bat should consider adding Abreu.
