Quinn Priester Struggles In First Appearance Since Trade

Boston Red Sox starting pitcher Quinn Priester took the mound for Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, completing 2 1/3 innings and allowing eight runs on six hits and four walks while striking out four. Throughout this season, Priester has been bouncing between Triple-A and MLB, combining for a 5.02 ERA in 80 2/3 total innings. After spending most of July in the big leagues, he was demoted to Triple-A after the Red Sox acquired him from Pittsburgh. Unless a pitcher in Boston's current rotation has to miss time, Priester will likely need to improve before he's recalled to the majors.

Dominic Leone On The Comeback Trail

Chicago White Sox right-hander Dominic Leone (elbow) started a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on July 24 and has tossed four innings in relief while striking out seven and allowing two runs. Leone had a little inflammation in his right elbow, and although his absence wasn't expected to be an extended one, he was moved to the 60-day injured list on June 11. The 32-year-old veteran reliever has been out of action for the White Sox since May 20 but appears to be nearing a return to the bullpen. Before injuring his elbow, the former 16th-round pick by the Seattle Mariners in 2012 out of Clemson wasn't very good in his 15 1/3 relief innings, giving up 15 runs (12 earned) on 15 hits (four homers) while walking 11 and fanning 15 for a 7.04 ERA.UPDATE: Leone was reinstated from the 60-day injured list on Monday.
