Ian Happ Hits Two Homers, Plates Three Tuesday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ had a solid game at the plate in Tuesday's 8-4 win over the Phillies. Happ went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a two-run HR, three RBI, and two walks. The 30-year-old lined a third-inning Mick Abel hanging off-speed offering into the right-field seats for a solo shot and put the Cubs ahead in the sixth inning with a two-run moonshot off of Taijuan Walker. Happ has put up decent offensive numbers overall, slashing .255/.345/.397 with seven HR, 42 runs scored, 29 RBI, and three stolen bases in 275 plate appearances. His power decrease could be due to him not hitting the ball as hard this season. However, he should continue to provide fantasy value while hitting at the top of one of baseball's stronger lineups.

Ian Happ Records Three Hits and Goes Yard on Thursday

Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ was seeing the ball well on Thursday, as he blasted his fourth home run, his 13th double, and went 3-for-6 on the evening. The long ball came in the sixth inning with one on and one out to help extend the Cubs' lead to 5-0, and help them eventually win 7-1 over the Washington Nationals. Happ missed a few weeks in May due to an oblique injury, but has not missed a beat since his return, picking up right where he left off in April. On the season, Happ is now slashing .259/.348/.373 with four home runs, 25 RBI, and 38 runs scored. Happ continues to bat in the leadoff spot against right-handed pitchers, and it's paying dividends for him in the runs department, batting behind Kyle Tucker and Seiya Suzuki, both of whom have been tearing the cover off the ball this season.

Ian Happ to be Activated on Tuesday

Chicago Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said that outfielder Ian Happ (oblique) will be activated off the 10-day injured list before Tuesday's contest in Miami against the Marlins. In a corresponding move, the team will send catching prospect Moises Ballesteros back to Triple-A Iowa. The Cubs said on Monday that Happ would rejoin the team this week in Miami, so he should be back in the starting lineup on Tuesday versus left-hander Ryan Weathers. The 30-year-old needed the minimum of 10 days to recover from his strained left oblique. The former ninth overall pick in 2015 out of the University of Cincinnati will return to a .269/.364/.381 slash line with three home runs, 19 RBI, 29 runs scored and two stolen bases. Happ has been better against lefty pitcher from the right side, going 16-for-44 (.364), although he has yet to homer against a southpaw in 2025.
