Robert Gasser Has Regular Tommy John Surgery

Milwaukee Brewers left-handed pitching prospect Robert Gasser (elbow) underwent "regular" Tommy John surgery on Wednesday, which will lengthen his recovery period, according to general manager Matt Arnold. An internal-brace procedure would have shortened Gasser's recovery period. The 25-year-old southpaw will miss the rest of this year and probably most, if not all, of the 2025 campaign as he recovers. It's a tough break, as Gasser looked pretty impressive in his major-league debut for the Brew Crew this year before injuring his left elbow. The team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, went 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 16 strikeouts and just one walk in 28 innings over his first five MLB starts. He can obviously be dropped in any redraft formats, but Gasser's upside makes him worth stashing in deep dynasty/keeper leagues.

Daulton Varsho Still Out For Blue Jays

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho (back) is still out of the team's starting lineup on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox. Varsho's back injury will keep him out for a fourth straight game. Veteran Kevin Kiermaier will once again fill in at center field and will bat ninth for Toronto at Fenway Park against Red Sox right-hander Kutter Crawford. The 27-year-old Varsho is considered day-to-day. Fantasy managers should check back on Thursday to see if he'll be available in the series opener versus the visiting division-rival New York Yankees. The 34-year-old Kiermaier will be a low-upside DFS sleeper on Wednesday against Crawford. He's hitting just .201 (29-for-144) with two homers, 12 RBI and five steals on the season. When healthy, Varsho isn't a help in batting average, but he can produce modest power and speed numbers for fantasy managers.

Gleyber Torres Out Against Mets

New York Yankees second baseman Gleyber Torres will take a seat on the bench for Wednesday's contest against the crosstown-rival New York Mets. Torres will retreat to the bench for the Yankees amidst his current slump at the plate. The 27-year-old Venezuelan infielder has just two hits in his last 29 at-bats (.069) with a homer, double, four RBI, four walks and seven strikeouts in his last nine games to drop his season line to .215/.294/.333 with seven home runs, 29 RBI, four stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 288 at-bats. It's been an especially disappointing campaign for his fantasy managers after he hit .273 last year with 25 home runs, 68 RBI and 13 steals in 158 games. Oswaldo Cabrera is handling the keystone on Wednesday and will hit in the nine-hole for the Yankees against Mets left-hander Sean Manaea.

Brandon Marsh Records Four Hits

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh was on a tear at the plate during Wednesday's game against the Detroit Tigers. The left-handed slugger went 4-for-4 with a home run and four RBI in the win. Marsh took right-hander Kelder Montero deep in the fourth inning to give the Phillies the lead and they never looked back. The 26-year-old is slashing .269/.345/.425 with seven home runs and 31 RBI this season. He looks to be a viable option in most fantasy formats.

George Kirby Looks Impressive In Win

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher George Kirby looked sharp on the mound during Wednesday's start against the Tampa Bay Rays. The right-hander struck out seven batters while allowing only one run over six innings during Wednesday's win. Kirby gave up an early run off the bat of Yandy Diaz, but he held the Rays in check after that. The 26-year-old has allowed two earned runs or less in six straight starts. He'll take a 3.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, and 96/9 K/BB into a tougher matchup against the Baltimore Orioles next week.
