Brandon Marsh Absent On Sunday

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. It's a bit odd to see Marsh getting the day off against a right-handed starting pitcher. However, Marsh did recently return from the injured list, so possibly the Phillies are just being cautious. In his place, Johan Rojas will cover center field and bat ninth versus right-hander Luis L. Ortiz on Sunday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly, but Marsh hasn't done enough to warrant rostering in most formats.

J.T. Realmuto, Brandon Marsh Out Of Action Against Guardians

Philadelphia Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto and outfielder Brandon Marsh will both start on the bench for Friday's series opener versus the hosting Cleveland Guardians. Rafael Marchan is doing the catching and batting ninth, while Johan Rojas will start in center field and bat eighth against Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams. Realmuto fouled a ball off his foot on Wednesday but returned to the lineup on Thursday, so there shouldn't be any concerns about his health. The 34-year-old has yet to really get going offensively and has gone 5-for-21 with a homer and four RBI in six games in May. Given his slow start to the year -- .170 (9-for-53) with a homer and seven RBI and a trip to the injured list -- Marsh isn't even guaranteed regular playing time against righties. Neither Marchan nor Rojas are very attractive DFS sleepers

Brandon Marsh Activated Off 10-Day Injured List

The Philadelphia Phillies have activated outfielder Brandon Marsh (hamstring) off the 10-day injured list prior to their contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday evening. In a corresponding move, the Phillies are sending Cal Stevenson to Triple-A. Marsh has been held out of action with a strained right hamstring since April 20. Before his injury, Marsh posted a .095/.220/.167 slash line with just four total hits (one home run). During this slow start, Marsh held a 16:7 K:BB and tallied just five RBI. Under the hood, he generated a low .259 xwOBA with a .159 xBA. Fantasy managers should expect Marsh to have close to an everyday role in center field. However, given his slow start, he should only be targeted in deeper 15+ team formats.
