Anthony Santander Remains Out On Saturday

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Anthony Santander (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners. Santander injured his shoulder during Thursday's game and as a result he'll miss his second straight game. It's worth noting that Santander could be available off the bench, which means his injury isn't too serious. Fantasy managers should consider Santander as day-to-day until further notice. George Springer will take over as the designated hitter and bat third against right-hander Logan Evans. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Jacob deGrom Records 10 Strikeouts

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom had his swing-and-miss stuff going for him during Saturday's start against the Detroit Tigers. The right-hander gave up a solo home run to Kerry Carpenter in the first inning, but settled down after that. He was taken deep once again in the fourth inning by Riley Greene, but deGrom was able to limit the damage. He went five innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out 10 batters in the win. Over the last five starts, deGrom has allowed two earned runs or less in every outing. He'll take a 2.72 ERA into his next start against the Houston Astros.

Ranger Suarez Throws Seven Shutout Innings

Philadelphia Phillies starting pitcher Ranger Suarez bounced back nicely during Saturday's start against the Cleveland Guardians. Suarez was crushed for seven runs during his season debut, but looked much better on the mound in this one. The left-hander really had no issues in this one as he tossed seven shutout innings, allowing three hits, while striking out five batters in the win. His next start will come in a favorable spot with a matchup against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Suarez will likely be a popular waiver wire addition after this one and is a good streaming choice for his next start.

Jose Altuve Exits Early On Saturday

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (hamstring) was forced to make an early exit from Saturday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. It's unclear how Altuve suffered the hamstring issue as he was replaced by Brendan Rodgers in the third inning. Altuve walked in his lone plate appearance and came around to score in the first inning. The expectation is that Altuve will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. There is a good chance he misses Sunday's game, but for now fantasy managers should consider him as day-to-day. Rodgers will likely see more time at second base if Altuve does miss any time. Fantasy managers will need to check back on Sunday for another update on his status.

Joe Ryan Excels In Win Over Giants

Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Joe Ryan let up two hits and one earned run over six innings pitched in Saturday's 2-1 win against the San Francisco Giants. He struck out seven batters and walked none in the quality start, improving to 3-2 on the year. The San Francisco native was stellar in his eighth start, able to retire every batter he faced except Heliot Ramos, who accounted for both hits (single, homer) against him. Otherwise, the 28-year-old was locked in and has now recorded three straight appearances allowing one or fewer earned runs and four straight with one or fewer free passes. He'll carry a sterling 2.74 ERA and 0.87 WHIP (46 innings) with an efficient 54:5 K:BB ratio into his next outing against the Milwaukee Brewers.
