Every Monday during the NFL season, the Injury Report goes through the injuries around the NFL position-by-position as they relate to your season-long fantasy football teams.

Friday Update

Colts running back Jonathan Taylor missed practice Friday and is unlikely to play Sunday, with Deon Jackson set to start.

Panthers running back Chuba Hubbard has been ruled out. It’s D’Onta Foreman SZN once again.

Lions running back D’Andre Swift is clearly not 100% based on every news update out of Detroit. Fire up Jamaal Williams, claim Craig Reynolds on waivers, and only use Swift if you’re desperate.

Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp was a limited participant in practice Thursday but seems on track to play Sunday.

Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman was placed on injured reserve and will likely miss the rest of the season. Demarcus Robinson and Isaiah Likely stand to benefit the most in his absence.

Saints wide receiver Michael Thomas was placed on injured reserve and will probably miss the rest of the season. Jarvis Landry got in a limited practice for New Orleans.

Jets wide receiver Corey Davis is out this week. Slight bump for Garrett Wilson, Tyler Conklin and Braxton Berrios

Packers wide receiver Allen Lazard will be a game time decision with a shoulder injury.

Buccaneers tight end Cameron Brate has been ruled out for Week 9. Rookie Cade Otton is a worthwhile tight end streamer in his absence.

Original Injury Run

Running Back

Saints running back Mark Ingram left Sunday’s game against the Raiders with a knee injury. With Ingram out, Alvin Kamara picked up the slack and scored not one, not two, but three touchdowns.

Wide Receiver

The most notable injury of the weekend goes to Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who hurt his ankle at the very end of the Rams game against the 49ers. Kupp was able to walk off the field under his own power and said he thinks he dodged a bullet. We’ll have to monitor practice reports throughout the week to gauge Kupp’s availability next week.

Patriots wide receiver DeVante Parker left Sunday’s game against the Jets after suffering a knee injury on the very first New England offensive snap of the game. Parker had recorded at least 9.8 PPR points in four of five games prior to the game against the Jets.

Packers wide receiver Christian Watson was ruled out in the first half against Buffalo Sunday night with a concussion. Watson will have to clear the league’s concussion protocol if he’s going to suit up against the Detroit Lions next week.

Giants wide receiver and punt returner Richie James left Sunday’s game against the Seahawks with a concussion. The Giants are on bye in Week 9, so James will have plenty of time to clear the concussion protocol before the next game. James has been a fantasy non-factor since Week 3, but this was a very light week for injuries around the league, so I thought I’d mention him.

Tight End

Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said that tight end Irv Smith will have an MRI on his injured ankle following the game against the Cardinals. Smith flopped in the best matchup in the league for tight ends against Arizona, cementing his status as a purely touchdown-dependent tight end.
