The New York Giants may not be considered a true contender for Super Bowl 56, but by playing in the NFC East, the playoffs become more possible, and anything is possible once you get into the playoffs. The G-Men are hoping to make an impact in 2021 and with Daniel Jones leading the offense again this season, opinions are divided as to whether he can be the guy to lead New York back to prosperity.

The Giants kick off the season as 2.5-point home underdogs vs the Denver Broncos.

Super Bowl odds update – New York Giants

The New York Giants have been near the bottom of the standings for the last few seasons and have had a top-10 pick in the NFL Draft in five of the last six seasons. The accumulation of talent hasn’t seemed to materialize the team into a contender as sportsbooks like BetMGM have the Giants Super Bowl odds at +8000, which is the seventh-worst odds among all 32 NFL teams.

  • Week 1: +8000
  • Preseason: +8000

Giants futures odds

The main futures markets to pay attention to for the New York Giants are odds to win the NFC East, NFC conference odds and if they can make the playoffs.

For the NFC East crown, they trail the Dallas Cowboys (+135) and Washington Football Team (+220) in odds to win the division at +450 and have a slight edge over the Philadelphia Eagles (+500) at BetMGM. Although the Giants finished 6-10 last season, they had a surprising 4-2 record within the division and won four of their last six games to finish the 2020 season.

As for NFC Conference odds, the Giants are far down the list to get back to the Super Bowl and sit at +4000 odds at BetMGM to pull it off. That’s the third-worst odds in the conference and seems highly unlikely given the great teams ahead of them like the Buccaneers, Packers, 49ers and Rams.

Finally, the Giants may not be the best bet to make the playoffs based on odds from DraftKings at +200 because of how poor the NFC East is. The division will likely only have one team making the postseason of the strength of the conference so if you think the Giants will make the playoffs, just take their odds to win the NFC East instead at +450.

Saquon Barkley NFL Comeback Player of the Year odds

(Check out a full look at Barkley odds and futures.)

Although he’s not the favorite to win NFL Comeback Player of the Year, Saquon Barkley of the New York Giants could be a great candidate to win this award. His odds are currently +800 at BetMGM to rise from the ashes like a phoenix and live up to the hype he had coming out of Penn State. Unlike the favorite Dak Prescott, there’s less pressure for Barkley to succeed playing with a team like the Giants that is expected to finish near the bottom of the standings.

If Barkley puts up numbers similar to his rookie season and plays at least 15 games, he’ll win this award over the likes of Prescott, Christian McCaffrey or Derwin James. At +800 odds at BetMGM, it’s worth a bet at this stage given the Giants have come out and reported he will play in Week 1.

New York Giants betting trends

The Giants are coming off a season where even though they finished 6-11 in the standings, they were a reliable spread most weeks. They finished 9-7 against the spread in 2020 and an impressive 6-2 ATS in road games.

Totals bettors had a huge edge by taking unders in Giants games and total went under in 12 of their 16 games last season. Oddsmakers didn’t think there would be much offensive fireworks in New York games as only one game saw a closing total over 50 points. After finishing with the 31st-ranked scoring offense last year, bettors should expect a lot more games in 2021 with totals in the 42-45 points range.

Here are the updated trends from the 2020 season:

  • 9-7 ATS
  • 3-12-1 O/U record on Totals
