Aiyuk Trade Imminent Possible Unlikely Who Knows

Trade rumors swirling around disgruntled 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk changed every few minutes Monday. It’s impossible to know what are trade tactics and what’s truthful, but based on Tuesday, three teams — Pittsburgh, Cleveland, New England — seem to have engaged in various levels of trade talks.

Reports from various outlets claimed that the framework for a trade was in place with both Cleveland and New England, but Aiyuk would have to agree to contract terms with either before a deal would be finalized.

It was reported that New England had pulled out of the running late Tuesday night.

Aiyuk remains in contract negotiations with San Francisco, and a return to the team is not off the table.

McCaffrey Likely to Miss Preseason Due to Injury

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that running back Christian McCaffrey suffered a calf strain and is doubtful to see any preseason snaps. The injury isn’t considered serious.

Nacua Week-to-Week after Bursting Bursa Sac

Rams head coach Sean McVay updated the injury status of wide receiver Puka Nacua, who “got his knee banged up” during Sunday’s joint practice with the Chargers. The injury isn’t considered serious, and Nacua is expected to be ready to play in Week 1.

Seahawks Sign Connor Williams to One-Year Deal

The Seahawks strengthened their offensive line by signing former Miami Dolphins center Connor Williams to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million.

Patriots Expect to Play Four QBs in Preseason Opener

When asked about plans for rookie QB Drake Maye in Thursday’s preseason opener vs. the Panthers, Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo confirmed Maye would see the field. Mayo added that “everyone who is healthy enough to play in the game will play in the game” and all four quarterbacks will see the field.
