2024 Team Stats

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Blake Snell was nearly unhittable during Sunday's start against the Minnesota Twins. The southpaw allowed one hit over seven scoreless innings while striking out eight batters. This is now back-to-back strong outings from Snell after a horrible start to the season. Hopefully that short stint on the injured list got the left hander back on track. Snell has allowed two hits over 12 scoreless innings since returning to the starting rotation.

The Detroit Tigers have no immediate plans to put first baseman/outfielder Mark Canha (wrist) on the 10-day injured list. Canha said he's going to rest and do treatment during the All-Star break next week and hopes to be a full-go on Friday for the start of the second half of the season against the Toronto Blue Jays. Wrist soreness forced Canha out of Saturday's game against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers early, and the 35-year-old veteran will not play in Sunday's series finale. His injury comes at a good time with the All-Star break coming next week, so hopefully he will not need to miss any more time beyond Sunday's game. Canha will end the first half in his first year in Motown with a .228/.334/.341 slash line, six home runs, 34 RBI, four steals and 36 runs scored in 84 games played.

San Francisco Giants shortstop Brett Wisely had a productive evening in his team's 7-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Friday. Wisely went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run, and two RBI to help propel his team to victory. The 25-year-old is putting together a solid season for the Giants, hitting .286 with 10 doubles, three homers, 16 runs, 18 RBI, and a stolen base over 140 at-bats. While he isn't offering much outside of batting average for fantasy, he is at least showing potential moving forward.

San Francisco Giants shortstop prospect Marco Luciano went 2-for-5 with a home run on Thursday evening. This was his fourth long ball of the season at Triple-A and second of the month. His two hits also extended his current hitting streak to four games. Luciano struggled at first when he returned to Triple-A on June 11 as he posted a poor .150 AVG in his first 16 games. However, since July 2 he sits with a much-improved .267 AVG. The shortstop is considered one of the top prospects in the San Francisco system and should remain stashed in all keeper and dynasty leagues, as he should return to the major leagues fairly soon.

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Robbie Ray (elbow) threw 59 pitches in his eighth minor-league rehab outing, allowing four runs on four hits (two homers) and a walk while striking out five hitters in three innings for Single-A San Jose on Tuesday. Ray will likely make his next start with Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, which could set him up to return as early as the team's second series out of the All-Star break that begins on July 22 against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers. The 32-year-old former Cy Young Award winner can miss bats in bunches when healthy and now gets to operate from pitcher-friendly Oracle Park, so it makes sense for fantasy managers in competitive leagues to consider stashing him as someone who can bolster rosters down the stretch of the season.
