With the 2025 baseball season now underway and our attention squarely focused on the big-league action, it is important to remember that those fantasy baseball prospects we were projecting and fawning over all offseason are now developing in their own right, regardless of whether we are paying close attention. It is the goal of this monthly publication to keep a close eye on all of that for you and distinguish between how player development pertains to both short-term (redraft) and long-term (dynasty) viewpoints.
The Call-Up-Watch Kids
Please note that two of the three “Call-Up-Watch Kids” from April’s publication are now in the big leagues, and although Nick Kurtz and Coby Mayo are both yet to hit a HR as a big leaguer, the talent remains immense (however, Mayo is now back to AAA). Our third from April’s bunch, Roman Anthony, remains inexplicably in Worcester, grinding out a .400-plus OBP. More on him in just a bit.
Jordan Lawlar, SS, Arizona Diamondbacks (May 2025)

(The day before we went to print, Jordan Lawlar was in fact called up. Anyway, here’s what I wrote about him before he was called up.)
It is hard to have a better start to the season that Lawlar has had in 2025. Through 150 PAs in AAA, Lawlar is hitting .354 with 6 HRs, 12 SBs and a .285 ISO, and importantly, he has stayed healthy. The only thing that has gone wrong for Lawlar so far this season is that Geraldo Perdomo is also off to a great start, and so the obvious spot is not available. With Perdomo and Ketel Marte up the middle, and an aging Eugenio Suárez having committed a league-high 7 errors among 3B so far this season, we might see Lawlar take over at the hot corner, which would put him on the path to SS/3B MPE in many formats.
Getting a boost at average, power and speed and potential MPE as the cherry on top, Lawlar should be as on your radar as just about anyone.
