Free-agent veteran outfielder Mark Canha signed a minor-league deal with an invitation to major-league spring training on Saturday with the Milwaukee Brewers, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. Canha will join an already crowded outfield group in Milwaukee after splitting the 2024 season with the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants. In a combined 125 games played, Canha slashed .242/.344/.346 with a below-average .690 OPS, seven home runs, 42 RBI, seven stolen bases and 46 runs scored in 462 plate appearances. The 36-year-old was also traded to the St. Louis Cardinals but sprained his right thumb late in the year and didn't play at all for them. At best, Canha will probably be on the weak side of a platoon in Milwaukee if he manages to make the big-league roster. Canha's plate discipline has always been his strong suit, but as a long shot for an everyday role, he'll have limited fantasy upside, if any at all.

According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the New York Mets have offered outfielder Mark Canha a non-guaranteed contract. Canha spent time with the Mets during the 2022 and 2023 seasons, and the team is interested in a reunion. Last season, the 35-year-old spent the 2024 campaign with the Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants. Across 125 contests, Canha posted a .242/.344/.346 line with 20 doubles, seven home runs, and seven stolen bases. Under the hood, he generated a poor .212 xBA and a .306 xSLG, suggesting he will likely face some regression this season. Canha performed well against southpaws, posting a .275 AVG compared to the .229 AVG against right-handers. If Canha were to sign with New York, he would likely be in a platoon role.

San Francisco Giants outfielder Luis Matos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento for the final game of the regular season as outfielder Mark Canha (finger) was placed on the injured list with a right thumb sprain. Matos is not penciled into the starting nine and will be available off the bench as the Giants face the St. Louis Cardinals in their season finale. Matos has posted a .216/.240/.351 line across 44 games at the major league level this summer. The Giant offense is best to fade in DFS this afternoon as they will face Cardinal prospect Michael McGreevy who enters Sunday with a strong 2.40 ERA.
