New York Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe (illness) was scratched from the team's lineup Sunday due to a stomach illness. Fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief that Volpe's absence wasn't related to a more serious injury. With Volpe sidelined, Jon Berti will start at third base and bat seventh while Oswaldo Cabrera will slide over to shortstop and bat ninth. Assuming he is feeling better, the speedy Volpe should be back in the starting lineup ahead of Monday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 22-year-old has gone 4-for-10 to start the season with one home run and two RBI.

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (neck) is out of the lineup on Sunday against the Tampa Bay Rays due to neck spasms. With the two-time All-Star unavailable, Ernie Clement will start at shortstop and bat sixth. Bichette should hopefully return to the lineup for Monday's clash with the Houston Astros, but it is a situation worth monitoring for fantasy managers. The 26-year-old has gone 2-for-12 with no home runs and two RBI to kick off the 2024 campaign. Ensure Bichette is out of lineups ahead of Sunday's action.

Houston Astros first baseman Jose Abreu (hand) is out of the starting lineup on Sunday against the visiting New York Yankees after he was hit by a pitch on his hand on Saturday, according to manager Joe Espada. The skipper said that Abreu should be available off the bench on Sunday in the series finale. With Abreu down, Jon Singleton will get the start at first base and will bat sixth for the Astros against right-hander Clarke Schmidt. Abreu's injury doesn't sound all that serious, so consider him day-to-day for now. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Monday to see if he's back in the lineup for the series opener at home against the Toronto Blue Jays. Through the first couple of games in 2024, the 37-year-old slugger is hitless in 12 plate appearances, so perhaps the day off on Easter will do him some good.

The Cincinnati Reds sent left-hander Nick Lodolo (calf) to Triple-A Louisville on Sunday to start his minor-league rehab assignment. Lodolo started the 2024 regular season on the 15-day injured list due to left-calf tenosynovitis, but barring a setback in the minors, he's expected to have a short stay on the IL to open the year. If the 26-year-old southpaw comes out of his rehab starts without a setback, he should rejoin Cincy's starting rotation in mid-April, and his strikeout upside makes him worth stashing in all fantasy leagues. He was limited to just seven starts in 2023 due to a stress reaction in his left leg, and he had a 6.29 ERA and 1.75 WHIP with 10 walks and 47 strikeouts in 34 1/3 innings before being shut down for the year.

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is not in the team's starting lineup on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs. With Seager taking the day off on Easter Sunday, Ezequiel Duran will make the start at the 6 and bat fifth for the Rangers against Cubs left-hander Jordan Wicks. Despite having sports-hernia surgery in January, Seager was ready to roll for Opening Day on Thursday and has gone 5-for-10 with two RBI and a run scored in the first two games of the 2024 season. Fantasy managers will need to remove the two-time World Series MVP out of their starting lineups for Sunday's games, but he should be right back in there on Monday when the Rangers start a series in Tampa versus the Rays. With Seager out on Sunday, outfield prospect Wyatt Langford will hit in the two spot behind Marcus Semien.
