Bo Bichette Reinstated And Starting On Tuesday

The Toronto Blue Jays reinstated shortstop Bo Bichette (calf) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday and also placed outfielder Daulton Varsho (shoulder) on the 10-day IL with a right-shoulder strain. The club also placed infielder Will Wagner (knee) on the 60-day IL, recalled outfielder Steward Berroa from Triple-A Buffalo and claimed right-hander Nick Robertson off waivers from the Angels and optioned him to Buffalo. Bichette is starting at short and batting second on Tuesday against Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi. Bichette has been out since just after the All-Star break with a calf injury that has bothered him for most of the year. It could also help explain why he's having the worst year of his career with a .222/.275/.320 slash line with a .595 OPS in 80 games. The two-time All-Star is now just hoping to finish off the year on a strong note.

Bo Bichette Will Play In Another Rehab Game On Thursday

Toronto Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that reports on shortstop Bo Bichette's (calf) first minor-league game with Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday night were that "he felt good." Bichette went 1-for-3 and played four defensive innings at the 6. He was on his feet more than planned, though, so he will not play on Wednesday but will "get back after it tomorrow," Schneider said. After the 26-year-old plays in around four or five games on the farm and if he can avoid any setbacks with a calf injury that has landed him on the injured, he should be able to return to the Blue Jays for the final several weeks of the season. Bichette, a two-time All-Star, has been one of the biggest fantasy busts in 2024 and will return to a .222/.275/.320 slash line with only four homers, 30 RBI and five steals on the year. Fantasy managers that have been holding him all this time are holding out hope he can finish strong.

Bo Bichette To Start Rehab Assignment On Tuesday

Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette (calf) ran the bases again on Friday and will remain with the team through the weekend during their series in Atlanta against the Braves, according to manager John Schneider. The plan for Bichette is for him to join Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday to begin a minor-league rehab assignment that should last four or five games. The 26-year-old has been out since right around the All-Star break due to a strained right calf that has been an issue for him this year. Bichette is on track to return to the big-league roster before the end of September, but at this point, it's been a complete bust of a season for the two-time All-Star. Even before his calf injury cropped up, Bichette was underperforming big time at the plate and currently carries a .222/.275/.320 slash line with a career-worst .595 OPS, only four homers, 30 RBI and five steals in 80 games.
