The 37-year-old's 2023 season was cut short when he underwent surgery to address elbow inflammation. However, he has looked good this spring, pitching 9 1/3 innings with a 2.89 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 10 strikeouts. Darvish's fantasy value has fluctuated over the past several seasons. Fantasy managers will be hoping he can both stay healthy and find his strikeout stuff for 2024. For DFS purposes to kick off the year, Darvish will be one to avoid.

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitchers Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto will pitch the first and second games of the regular season, respectively in Korea against the San Diego Padres. Glasnow has looked sharp so far this spring, while Yamamoto has struggled in limited appearances. Both pitchers should serve as high-end fantasy options this season, as Yamamoto was perhaps the most hyped free-agent pitcher this off-season and Glasnow has shown dominance in the big leagues when he was healthy with the Rays.

New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz (knee) made his first big-league appearance since the postseason of 2022 in Monday's 1-0 Grapefruit League loss to the Marlins. Diaz entered the game in the fifth inning and struck out the side swinging, touching 98 MPH with his fastball. The 29-year-old suffered a season-ending knee injury last March in the World Baseball Classic, so seeing him look so strong back in game action is encouraging for fantasy managers. Diaz is one of fantasy's top closing options when healthy, and this was a good indication that he appears to be so.

Boston Red Sox closer Kenley Jansen (lat) is scheduled to throw another live batting practice session on Tuesday, per the Boston Globe's Pete Abraham. The 36-year-old reported right lat soreness early in camp and was shut down, but is now building up for Opening Day. Fantasy managers should monitor his situation for a better idea of whether he will be ready for Opening Day. It seems as though veteran Chris Martin (groin) would get the first shot at save opportunities for the Red Sox if Jansen is unable to start the season healthy.

Boston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill (calf) is expected to return to Grapefruit League action on Tuesday, per the Boston Globe's Pete Abraham. The 28-year-old was dealing with tightness in his calf, so he did not make the trip to Santo Domingo over the weekend for the Dominican Republic Series matchup with the Tampa Bay Rays. O'Neill has made a good first impression with his new team to this point, batting .286 with a home run, three RBI, and two stolen bases in 14 at-bats.
