Yoshinobu Yamamoto To Return On Tuesday

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto (triceps) is scheduled to return from the 60-day IL on Tuesday evening against the Chicago Cubs, according to David Vassegh of SportsNet LA. Yamamoto has been sidelined since June with triceps tightness and is on the verge of returning to the major league mound. The right-hander allowed three earned runs while striking out three batters through his four-inning rehab assignment. Before the injury, the 26-year-old held his own through his first taste of the major leagues, posting a solid 2.92 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 17:84 BB:K ratio across 74 innings of work. Fantasy managers should feel confident placing Yamamoto back into their starting lineups down the stretch.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto Tosses Two Innings In Rehab Start

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (shoulder) went two innings in his minor-league rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City and gave up two earned runs on two hits while walking two and striking out three. Yamamoto threw 36 of his 53 pitches for strikes in his second rehab outing. The 26-year-old talented Japanese hurler gave up a solo home run while striking out two in two innings in his first rehab start last Wednesday for OKC. Since he's been sidelined since the middle of June with a rotator-cuff strain, the Dodgers aren't rushing him back to the big-league starting rotation. Yamamoto should be ready to return to the Blue around the middle of September, barring any setbacks, but he's only going to be able to make a few starts before the regular season is over. He has looked good in his first 14 MLB starts with an ERA under 3.00 and a nice 27.9% strikeout rate.

Yoshinobu Yamamoto's Next Rehab Start To Come On Tuesday

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (shoulder) played catch on Friday and will throw a bullpen session on Sunday. Yoshinobu's next minor-league rehab start will come on Tuesday with Triple-A Oklahoma City, and the plan is for him to go three innings. It will be the 26-year-old Japanese pitcher's second rehab start after he allowed one run (on a homer) while striking out two in two innings (31 pitches) for Oklahoma City on Wednesday. The Dodgers aren't going to rush Yamamoto back into the rotation, so fantasy managers should expect to maybe get a few outings out of him once he returns in the middle of September, barring any setbacks. Yamamoto will be a key piece of the rotation going into the postseason when he's healthy after going 6-2 with a tidy 2.92 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 84 K's in 74 innings in his first 14 starts in 2024 in the States.
