Oakland Athletics outfielder Lawrence Butler went 2-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday's Cactus League victory against the Seattle Mariners. Butler, 23, has been having a strong spring and is now hitting .433 with four RBI and a stolen base over his first 30 at-bats. The young outfielder had a strong minor league campaign in 2023 with a combined 15 homers, 70 RBI and 21 stolen bases to accompany a healthy .284 batting average across Double-A and Triple-A. His success on the farm earned him a promotion to the big leagues late last season, but he struggled with four homers, 10 RBI and a .211 batting average in 42 games. Butler had minimal playing time in Triple-A, so the growing pains were as expected in his first taste in the show. Despite that, Butler enters the season vying for an outfield spot on a young and non-competitive team that will be sure to showcase and give their young talent ample opportunities. The left-handed bat might struggle to drive in runs with a weak lineup, but his ability to hit for power and swipe bags makes him worth a gamble later in drafts.

San Francisco Giants closer Camilo Doval tossed another scoreless inning in Tuesday's loss versus the Los Angeles Dodgers. Doval allowed two hits in the contest, with no walks or strikeouts. The fireballer has now thrown four innings this spring and allowed just three hits with two walks and five strikeouts. The 26-year-old appeared in 69 games for the Giants in 2023 and recorded 39 saves with 87 strikeouts in 67 2/3 innings. A steady force at the end of games, Doval can safely be selected as a Top-10 closer option in all formats.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher/designated hitter Shohei Ohtani picked up three more hits on Tuesday and continues to swing a scorching hot bat. Versus the San Francisco Giants, Ohtani went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI. With his new team, Ohtani hasn't slowed down a bit and has 11 hits over his first 19 Cactus League at-bats. In addition to the hits, he already has driven in nine runs with two homers and a stolen base. Ohtani signed the richest contract in baseball history this offseason and his ability on offense to provide both power and speed is a big reason why. The 29-year-old can safely be taken in the first-round of upcoming drafts.

Los Angeles Dodgers catcher Will Smith went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's Cactus League victory against the arch rival San Francisco Giants. The backstop is now hitting .280 with two round trippers and five RBI over his first 25 at-bats. The backstop put together another strong season in 2023 with 19 homers, 76 RBI and a .261 batting average. Smith, 28, remains one of the best offensive backstops in all of baseball with his ability to hit for both average and power. The combination of that in one of the leagues best lineups is a recipe for success. There aren't many catchers that can do what Smith does with the bat and managers should expect him to be one of the first off the board in all formats.

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow continued his strong spring with a big outing against the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday. One of the Dodgers newly acquired rotation pieces, the 30-year-old had his longest outing of the Cactus League with 5 1/3 innings of hitless baseball with one walk and eight strikeouts. Performance has never been the issue for Glasnow as a professional, but health has and his 120 innings in 2023 was his career-high and most thrown since 2018, a year in which he threw 111 2/3 innings. Glasnow has extreme upside with his ability to rack up strikeouts and limit walks. It also helps that he is on a Dodger team that projects to have plenty of victories in 2024. As always with Glasnow, the risk is worth the reward, but managers shouldn't stretch to get the talented right-hander with his injury history.
