Michael Busch Continues Impressive Start To Season

Chicago Cubs first baseman Michael Busch has been hitting everything thrown at him during this series with the Arizona Diamondbacks. On Saturday, Busch smacked a home run off right-hander Zac Gallen in the second inning. He would later add on an RBI single as Busch finished his day 2-for-4 in the victory over the D-Backs. Busch has five hits, one homer, and three RBI across the first two games of this series versus Arizona. Busch is hitting .316/.381/.618 with four homers and 12 RBI early in the season. The downside is Busch is likely to sit out against most left-handed pitching. The Cubs have faced nine straight right-handed starters, so Busch has played a ton. Despite the platoon, Busch has done enough to warrant being rostered in most fantasy formats.

Pete Alonso Stays Hot On Saturday

New York Mets first baseman Pete Alonso has been on a tear early in the season. He continued his reign during Saturday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Alonso drove in a run on a double in the third inning. He also smacked a solo home run in the eighth inning to add on another insurance run. The Mets would take this game 3-0 with Alonso being responsible for two of those runs. Alonso is slashing .356/.467/.753 with six homers and 23 RBI this season. Possibly, Alonso works his name into the MVP discussions if he stays on this impressive pace of play.

Brandon Marsh Hits 10-Day Injured List

The Philadelphia Phillies have placed outfielder Brandon Marsh (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list with a right hamstring strain. Marsh has been unable to play in their previous three contests and will now face a longer absence. Before his injury, Marsh was in a slump at the plate, tallying just four hits, including one home run, across 17 contests. During this stretch, he held a high 31.4 percent strikeout rate with a low .387 OPS. While Marsh remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Johan Rojas to continue to see time as the everyday center fielder in Philadelphia. Last season, Marsh was productive as he held a .249/.328/.419 line. However, given his slow start, fantasy managers in shallower formats should not consider stashing Marsh while he is on the IL.

Oneil Cruz Sitting On Sunday

Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder Oneil Cruz is not in Sunday's lineup when they conclude a series against the Cleveland Guardians. Cruz has been in the starting nine in each of the previous seven contests and will get a much-needed day off. During this stretch, the 26-year-old has posted a .269/.367/.654 slash line with one double, three home runs, and three stolen bases. Through 19 games this season, Cruz has held a .234/.363/.500 slash line with five long balls and 10 stolen bases. Under the hood, he has generated an elite 20.5 percent barrel rate and a 54.5 percent hard-hit rate, which are both well above the average marks, which suggests his power production should continue to climb during the summer. Fantasy managers should expect Cruz to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Angels. This afternoon, Alexander Canario will cover center field and bat in the five-hole.

Cody Poteet Promoted To Major Leagues

Baltimore Orioles right-handed pitcher Cody Poteet has been recalled from Triple-A Norfolk. In a corresponding move, the Orioles optioned pitching prospect Brandon Young to Triple-A. Young made his MLB debut on Saturday and allowed seven hits and three runs across four innings of work. Poteet joined Baltimore in March via a trade from the Chicago Cubs. Last summer, Poteet logged 24 1/3 innings with the New York Yankees and held a 2.22 ERA with a 1.07 WHIP. He struck out 16 batters and was deployed out of both the rotation and the bullpen. Fantasy managers should expect Poteet to likely operate out of the bullpen, but he could be given a few spot starts in Baltimore. Through 83 career innings in the major leagues, Poteet has posted a 3.80 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP.
