Anthony Rizzo Activated From Injured List, Starting On Sunday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (forearm) was reinstated from the 60-day IL on Sunday morning and will start at first base as the Yankees conclude a series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Rizzo has been sidelined since mid-June with a right forearm fracture. In a corresponding move, the Yankees optioned first baseman/catcher Ben Rice on Saturday evening. Before the injury, Rizzo was hitting a mere .223/.289/.341 line with eight home runs. Despite his struggles, fantasy managers looking to improve their corner infield spot should look to add the former World Series champion this weekend, given his everyday role in the Yankees offense. This afternoon, Rizzo could be a sneaky play in DFS as he will bat in the seven-hole against St. Louis right-hander Miles Mikolas, who has a hefty 5.23 ERA.

Ron Marinaccio Joins Major League Roster

New York Yankees relief pitcher Ron Marinaccio is being promoted to the major league roster. The 29-year-old logged 21 innings of work at the major league level earlier this summer to the tune of a solid 2.53 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and a 9:22 BB:K ratio. The Delaware product held an excellent 2.02 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP across 35 innings at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Fantasy managers should expect Marinaccio to serve as a middle relief option in the Yankee bullpen. In leagues where holds are scored, the right-hander could be worth a look as he should not only provide stable ratios and could typically pitch with a lead. However, he should not be given too many save opportunities as Clay Holmes should continue to serve as the ninth-inning option with Mark Leiter Jr. behind him in the eighth inning.

Yandy Diaz Returns To Starting Nine

Tampa Bay Rays first baseman Yandy Diaz (knee) is rejoining the starting nine on Sunday afternoon. Diaz left Friday's game early with a knee injury and sat out on Saturday as well. However, this injury was not serious as the 33-year-old will serve as the designated hitter and bat in his typical leadoff spot. Diaz enjoyed a nice August, posting an excellent .297/.353/.451 slash line with five doubles, three home runs, and an 8:16 BB:K ratio. Through the summer, Diaz sits with a strong .276/.331/.406 line with 12 long balls. Under the hood, he has held an excellent 13.7% whiff rate, which shows in his 15.2% K rate, which is one of the best marks in the sport. Diaz has a difficult matchup this afternoon against San Diego right-hander Dylan Cease, and is best to leave off of your DFS lineups.

DL Hall Promoted To The Major Leagues

Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher DL Hall is being promoted to the major leagues. The 25-year-old made the opening day roster out of spring training but struggled with a poor 4.82 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP through 28 innings of work. At Triple-A Nashville, the southpaw held a 3.83 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, and a 25:35 BB:K ratio across 40 innings. Hall will likely operate as a long relief option in Milwaukee, as the Brewers currently have five healthy starting pitchers in their rotation. However, he could given a handful of spot starts during the stretch run and could be worth streaming in deeper NL-only formats in favorable matchups.

Jordan Wicks Activated From Injured List, Starting On Sunday

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jordan Wicks (oblique) was activated off the 60-day IL on Sunday morning and is slated to start the series finale as the Cubs look to complete a three-game sweep against the Washington Nationals. Wicks hit the IL back in June with an oblique strain and will likely remain in the starting rotation throughout the remainder of the regular season. Prior to the injury, the southpaw held a 4.18 ERA and 1.46 WHIP across 28 frames. The 25-year-old held an above-average 25.0% K rate and a 28.0% whiff rate. Fantasy managers in deeper leagues needing a depth starting pitcher should look at Wicks on the waiver wire this weekend. DFS players should consider placing Wicks in their starting lineup as the Nationals have posted a mere .131 ISO against southpaws this season.
