Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher DL Hall will serve as the opener for Friday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies, according to Adam McCalvy of MLB.com. A lat strain had sidelined Hall through this past Monday when he was activated from the injured list and tossed 2.1 innings out of the bullpen. The right-hander bounced between opening and filling a traditional bullpen role last year. He showed great length as an opener, averaging 4.1 innings per start in 2024. In total, through 13 games (43 innings) last year, he maintained a 4.48 xFIP, a 45.5 percent ground ball rate, 9.21 K/9, 4.40 BB/9, and 1.26 HR/9.

The Milwaukee Brewers announced on Monday that they reinstated left-hander DL Hall (lat) from the 60-day injured list and optioned right-hander Logan Henderson to Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move. Hall will be making his 2025 debut for the Brewers when he gets into a game, presumably in more of a long-relief role out of the bullpen. The 26-year-old southpaw has been sidelined all year with a strained lat and threw 10 2/3 scoreless innings with 15 strikeouts and six walks in four minor-league rehab appearances (three starts) at the rookie-level Arizona Complex League and Triple-A Nashville. Hall threw three innings in his most recent rehab outing and will be available out of the bullpen for Monday's series opener against the Boston Red Sox. Injuries and inconsistent performances limited Hall to just 13 outings (seven stats) for Milwaukee in 2024.

As of Tuesday, Milwaukee Brewers left-hander DL Hall (lat) was building up for bullpen sessions in Arizona that are tentatively scheduled for April 15 and 18 before potentially moving to a live batting practice session on April 23, according to MLB.com. Hall is on the 60-day injured list due to a left-lat strain and won't be eligible to return before late May. The 26-year-old has been throwing on flat ground at the team's spring training complex as he works his way back from a lat injury that he suffered this spring. Hall started off the 2024 season in rough fashion before injuring his knee and going on the IL. When he returned, he was decent out of the bullpen with a 3.68 ERA in relief in his final eight appearances. Given his inconsistency and struggles with injuries, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Hall return to a relief role for Milwaukee when he makes his 2025 debut.
