Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez (elbow) will make another minor-league rehab start with Double-A Hartford this week following his outing on Saturday with Triple-A Albuquerque, where he lasted just two-thirds of an inning. Marquez will then return to Colorado's starting rotation next week on the road against the Cincinnati Reds if all goes well with his final rehab start. The 29-year-old so far has an ugly 9.58 ERA with 14 strikeouts and four walks in 10 1/3 innings on his rehab assignment. Marquez has gotten up to 52 total pitches in an outing as he finalizes his rehab after having Tommy John surgery. He will be rejoining the Rockies' rotation before the All-Star break, but fantasy managers in mixed leagues should be extremely hesitant to use him as a streamer for at least a while as he regains his footing in the big leagues.

Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Javier Assad (forearm) played catch ahead of Sunday's game against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers. It marks the resumption of Assad's throwing program after going on the injured list on Thursday due to a right forearm extensor strain. Even so, the 26-year-old right-hander remains unlikely to rejoin Chicago's rotation before the mid-July All-Star break. In 16 starts this year, Assad has produced a 3.04 ERA with 79 strikeouts and 33 walks in 83 innings for the Cubs and makes for a decent stash in most fantasy leagues. Righty swingman Hayden Wesneski will draw Tuesday's start at home, but he won't be a recommended DFS play or streaming option against a short-handed but dangerous Philadelphia Phillies lineup.

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera (shoulder) made another Triple-A rehab start on Sunday, but he only went three innings and threw 67 pitches. Cabrera was scheduled to go five innings or 80 pitches for Jacksonville on Sunday in what was his third minor-league rehab start amid his recovery from a right shoulder impingement, so he came up a bit short on expectations in terms of the length of his outing. Fantasy managers should expect Cabrera to make one more appearance this weekend before he gets reinstated from the injured list sometime next week if all goes well, with the earliest his activation can come arriving on July 7. The hard-throwing 26-year-old right-hander is a stash candidate for fantasy managers in deep mixed or NL-only leagues for his bat-missing stuff, but a lack of control has always plagued Cabrera in the major leagues.

San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Robbie Ray (elbow) will start for Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday. Ray pitched 3 2/3 innings on 48 pitches (33 strikes) in his most recent rehab start with Single-A San Jose on Friday, but he'll get back to toeing the rubber against Triple-A competition for what will be his third minor-league appearance outside of rookie ball this year during his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The 32-year-old strikeout machine is someone for fantasy managers to consider stashing ahead of the mid-July All-Star break, as he should be able to make his 2024 season debut with the Giants sometime in late July. In his last full season in 2022, Ray fanned 231 hitters and walked 62 with a 3.71 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 32 starts.

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman Bryce Harper (hamstring) started doing some rehab work in the pool and the weight room prior to Sunday's game against the division-rival Miami Marlins, and manager Rob Thomson said that there's a "good chance" that he will return before the mid-July All-Star break. Harper is recuperating from a strained left hamstring, and it sounds like he should be able to the Phillies as soon as he's first eligible to be reinstated from the 10-day injured list on July 9. The 31-year-old superstar is slashing an MVP-caliber .303/.399/.582 with 20 home runs, 20 doubles, 58 RBI, and four stolen bases over 287 at-bats in 2024. Alec Bohm should primarily operate at first base while Harper is sidelined, opening up an everyday role at third base for Edmundo Sosa, who is worth watching in all fantasy leagues.
