Edward Cabrera Scratched On Friday

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera (undisclosed) has been scratched ahead of his start against the Philadelphia Phillies on Friday. The organization hasn't given a reason why Cabrera was pulled ahead of his start. He has already been on the injured list twice this season, so hopefully he won't require a third trip. In the meantime, Austin Kitchen will draw the start for Friday's game. The 27-year-old has only thrown five innings on the big-league club this season. Kitchen won't be an ideal streaming option against a tough Phillies lineup.

Edward Cabrera Stifles Braves Over Five Innings

Miami Marlins starting pitcher Edward Cabrera tossed a five-inning gem in a victory over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday, giving up no earned runs on three hits and two walks with eight strikeouts. The right-hander brilliantly limited the potent Atlanta offense to earn his second win of the season. He has a 5.96 ERA and 1.49 WHIP, making it difficult to roster him in fantasy leagues. But the strikeout potential is excellent as he has shown with 64 punchouts in 48 1/3 innings. He might be someone to keep an eye on for the rest of the season to see if he can show improved results.

Edward Cabrera To Make His Next Start On Sunday

Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker said that testing came back OK for right-hander Edward Cabrera (knee), and he's penciled in to make his next scheduled start this Sunday versus the division-rival Atlanta Braves. Cabrera was pulled from his start early on Tuesday against the Tampa Bay Rays in the sixth inning when he injured his left knee while covering first base. The 26-year-old avoided a serious ailment, though, and won't have to skip a start in the rotation for the Fish. The Dominican hurler is currently sporting a career-worst 6.65 ERA (5.58 FIP) with a 1.55 WHIP and a 56:26 K:BB in 43 1/3 innings over his 10 starts in his fourth big-league campaign in 2024. Cabrera does have a career-high 28.6% strikeout rate, but his career 13.8% walk rate makes him a volatile fantasy asset on a start-by-start basis.
