Three weeks of action in the Hall of Fantasy League have come and gone, as teams have established themselves as juggernauts and others have struggled out of the gate. At the end of the day, it’s still important to remember how early it is and how stacked this league is.

If you are unfamiliar with the league, they do a fantastic job of laying everything out clearly and concisely on their homepage:

“The HOFL consists of 10 Football Franchises representing key markets throughout the U.S. Teams will be managed by a dedicated Front Office of fantasy experts who will compete on behalf of their respective Stakeholders.”

For more information, I wrote up the ins and outs of the entire league, including who is involved. You can read it here.

This piece, in particular, will be a weekly piece highlighting where things stand in the league and a matchup to look forward to in the upcoming week.

Stake rankings

The biggest draw to the HOFL is a fan’s ability to stake a team and have skin in the game without needing to keep up with the day-to-day management. Below is a reminder as to where teams ranked heading into the season in terms of the total stake, with the Vegas Pocket Kings being the league leaders.

Stake Rank Team (GM)
1 Vegas Pocket Kings (Jeff Mans)
2 Ohio GOATS (Michael Fabiano & Bob Harris)
3 NY Bodega Cats (Scott Engel & Raphael Rabe)
4 LA Sidekicks (Christopher Harris)
5 Chicago Hogmollies (Jeff Ratcliffe)
6 Texas Y’allers (Sigmund Bloom & Joe Bryant)
7 Boston Barflies (John Paulsen & Jennifer Eakins)
8 Atlanta Hot Wings (Graham Barfield & Joe Dolan)
9 Seattle Haze (Melissa Jacobs & Pat Fitzmaurice)
10 Philly Powderkegs (Adam Caplan)

Week 3’s matchup of the week between the Boston Barflies and the NY Bodega Cats was the second-highest-scoring matchup of the Week, totaling nearly 334 points between the two teams, resulting in a 171.58 to 162.36 victory for the Bodega Cats.

The entire box score is below.

Week 3 recap – Hall of Fantasy League

Despite receiving duds from two of their best receivers in Robert Woods and Tyler Lockett, the Barflies were still able to post an impressive 162-point performance on the back of Josh Allen and Emmanuel Sanders. Unfortunately for them, they ran into a buzzsaw of a team in the NY Bodega Cats, who scored over 171 points.

While the Bodega Cats got a down game from their stud quarterback, they made up for it with massive games from Cooper Kupp and Mike Williams, two of the top-three wide receivers in PPR formats through the first three weeks of the season.

After their matchup, the Bodega Cats sit at 2-1-0 while the Barflies dropped to 1-2-0. Below is a snapshot of how the entire league is shaking out:

Record Team Points Scored FAAB
3-0 Atlanta Hot Wings 471 $52
2-1 NY Bodega Cats 536 $70
2-1 Chicago Hogmollies 518 $84
2-1 Seattle Haze 467 $88
1-2 Ohio GOATS 496 $33
1-2 LA Sidekicks 446 $76
1-2 Vegas Pocket Kings 441 $61
1-2 Boston Barflies 439 $4
1-2 Philly Powderkegs 436 $49
1-2 Texas Y’allers 408 $77

To say things in this league are tight would be an understatement. There are zero winless teams remaining, only one undefeated team (Atlanta Hot Wings), and all but one team has topped 430 total points.

Week 4 brings a new set of challenges to the table, as teams will try and separate themselves from the pack that is the standings. The matchup of the Week for this upcoming week is highlighted below.

Matchup of the Week – Week 4 – Hall of Fantasy League

With so many teams knotted at 1-2, two teams in the middle of that pack looking to separate themselves are the Chicago Hogmollies and the LA Sidekicks. These two teams are managed by two of the most well-respected analysts in the industry, as Chicago is led by FTN’s own Jeff Ratcliffe, while LA is led by industry icon Bob Harris.

They connected with the HOFL podcast to preview their head-to-head battle in Week 4 below:

Desperate to gain some momentum and start a winning streak, the matchup is outlined below with Chicago listed on the left.

Kirk Cousins QB Lamar Jackson
Antonio Gibson RB Saquon Barkley
Alvin Kamara RB D’Andre Swift
Mike Evans WR Marquise Brown
Justin Jefferson WR Tim Patrick
Tyreek Hill WR Kenny Golladay
Hunter Henry TE Travis Kelce
Deebo Samuel FLX Rob Gronkowski
Ja’Marr Chase FLX Michael Pittman
Teddy Bridgewater SFLX Matt Ryan
Rodrigo Blankenship K Younghoe Koo
Cleveland Browns DST New Orleans Saints

While the projections are quite lopsided in favor of Ratcliffe, this matchup should be closer than indicated. The murmurs around the NFL are that Swift is completely passed his soft-tissue injury and is set for an even heavier workload, while the waiver wire grab of Tim Patrick could prove valuable for Harris.
