Robert Woods Ruled Out Versus The Pats

Houston Texans wide receiver Robert Woods (foot) won't suit up for Sunday's matchup with the Patriots. Nico Collins (hamstring) landed on the injured reserved list, so the Texans will be shorthanded on the receiving end. Of course, Stefon Diggs is expected to be the primary target for C.J. Stroud versus New England, with Tank Dell in line to see more attention. However, with Woods and Collins out of the equation, Xavier Hutchinson, who had two catches for 31 yards in Week 5, could benefit the most. There's also a chance Joe Mixon (ankle), who is questionable, gets more passes out of the backfield, which would improve his PPR stock.

Robert Woods Trending In The Wrong Direction

Houston Texans wide receiver Robert Woods (foot) missed practice for the second straight day this week on Thursday. Unless Woods is able to return to practice on Friday, he'll likely be ruled out for the Week 6 tilt against the New England Patriots. The 32-year-old veteran was also questionable last week with his foot injury but he ended up suiting up in the Week 5 win over the Buffalo Bills. However, he was not targeted at all in the 23-20 victory and played just 24 percent of the offensive snaps. Woods actually has more of a shot to make noise on offense with Nico Collins (hamstring) set to miss at least the next four games while on Injured Reserve, but it won't help if he's unable to play this weekend. If Woods ends up being inactive on Sunday, Xavier Hutchinson figures to serve as the WR3 for the Texans behind Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell. Avoid Woods even if he's active.

Dameon Pierce Out, Robert Woods Active In Week 5

Houston Texans running back Dameon Pierce (hamstring) is officially inactive for Week 5 against the visiting Buffalo Bills on Sunday, while wide receiver Robert Woods (foot) is active. Pierce has been making progress with his hamstring injury in recent weeks, but he will now miss his fourth straight game after being injured in the Week 1 win over the Indianapolis Colts. With Joe Mixon (ankle) having already been ruled out, the Texans will once again roll with Cam Akers and Dare Ogunbowale in their backfield this weekend against a beat up Buffalo defense. Akers hasn't exactly impressed anyone the last two weeks with Mixon and Pierce out, but just from a volume standpoint alone, he's in play as an RB3/flex in Week 5. Woods shouldn't be on the radar for a starting fantasy spot on Sunday, especially with Tank Dell (chest) returning from a one-game absence. Woods has only three catches for 28 yards so far this year.
