Saquon Barkley Looks To Stay On A Roll In Road Matchup With Bengals

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will go on the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8. The 27-year-old nearly broke his career rushing record in the team's win over his former team, the New York Giants, last week and ended the day with 187 total yards and a touchdown. With that revenge game behind him, Barkley looks to take on a Bengals defense that is much better at stopping the run than they are at stopping the pass. Quarterback Jalen Hurts only needed to throw 14 times last week, but do not expect the same run-heavy game script this week against the Bengals. Barkley is a set-it-and-forget-it RB1, but this game could see him being more involved as a receiver if the Eagles have to try and play catchup.

Jalen Hurts A Strong QB1 Play Against Bengals

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will go on the road to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8. The 26-year-old has looked strong since the bye week, tallying five touchdowns, and has turned the ball over zero times. Last week, Hurts threw the ball 14 times for only 114 yards and a touchdown, but the Eagles leaned heavily on the run game and Saquon Barkley against his former team and put the game out of reach early in the second half. The Bengals present a much better challenge for Philadelphia in Week 8, but their defense has been terrible against opposing fantasy quarterbacks. Cincinnati allows the sixth-most fantasy points per game to the quarterback position and the third-most to tight ends. The Eagles will try to run the ball as much as possible but Hurts and the duo of A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith will need to be the focal point if they want to win this game. Consider the fifth-year vet a top-three option in Week 8.

Dallas Goedert Ruled Out For Week 8

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 8 according to Adam Schefter of ESPN. Goedert will now miss his second straight game since leaving Week 6 early due to a hamstring injury. The 29-year-old was unable to participate in any team practices this week. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progression next week as he sets his sight on returning in Week 9 to face the Jacksonville Jaguars. As a result, No. 2 tight end Grant Calcaterra will be at the top of the depth chart once again. He is best to fade in all formats as he caught just one pass serving as the starter last weekend.

Dallas Goedert Misses Another Practice On Thursday

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (hamstring) has yet to practice this week after missing another session on Thursday. Goedert strained his hamstring in the Week 6 win over the Cleveland Browns and didn't practice at all last week before missing the Week 7 divisional win over the New York Giants. The 29-year-old is tracking towards missing a second straight game this Sunday against the Bengals in Cincinnati, so fantasy managers shouldn't count on having him this weekend. Backup Grant Calcaterra caught all four of his targets for a season-high 67 yards in Week 6 and played 71% of the offensive snaps last Sunday with Goedert out, but it led to only one catch on one target for a five-yard gain. Calcaterra will be more involved again this weekend if Goedert is ruled out, but he'll be a boom/bust TE2 streamer, at best.

Dallas Goedert Not Practicing On Wednesday

Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert (hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday, according to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia. Goedert did not play in last weekend's game due to a hamstring injury he suffered during Week 6. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status during the week, as he still has two more opportunities to participate in practice before the weekend. If Goedert is able to play on Sunday, he should be viewed as a low-end TE1 facing a Cincinnati defense that has allowed the 29th-most points to opposing tight ends. If he cannot play, fantasy managers should expect both A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith to see the vast majority of targets in the Philadelphia air attack.
