NFL Injury Report for the Conference Championship Round

It doesn’t appear there are many injuries on the offensive side of the ball for Conference Championship Championship Sunday. All four teams should have their entire starting offense out there with just one or two notable exceptions, so let’s dig in.

Conference Championship Injury Report

Cam Jurgens, C, Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Cam Jurgens is listed as questionable against the Commanders, but he is expected to play after practicing Friday. I think the one reason there is still at least a tiny sliver of question is because it’s a back injury. Those can be very tricky to manage, and the Eagles cannot afford to lose their center at this stage. That would hurt the run game and the pass protection, but the Eagles most likely dodged the bullet with Jurgens being out.

As far as Jalen Hurts goes, he is off the injury report for this one, but that doesn’t mean his knee is 100%. We saw last week that his mobility was bothered by the knee issue that required a brace toward the end of the matchup against the Rams.

Taylor Rapp, S, Buffalo Bills
Christian Benford, CB, Buffalo Bills

Heading into Arrowhead to face Patrick Mahomes and missing at least one key member of the secondary is far from ideal, but that’s Buffalo’s task Sunday. Safety Taylor Rapp has already been ruled out after suffering a hip injury against the Ravens last week. The Bills may also be without Christian Benford, who is dealing with a concussion. Xavier Worthy, Travis Kelce and Marquise Brown should be able to take some advantage of this situation, even though Kansas City has lacked explosiveness this season on offense.

Original Monday Injury Report

The final four in the NFL have been decided, as the Washington Commanders upset the Detroit Lions to punch their ticket to Philadelphia to face the Eagles on the NFC side. On the AFC side of the bracket, the top two seeds survived to set up a faceoff between the Chiefs and Bills in Kansas City. It doesn’t look like there will be many injuries as things stand, so all four teams should be close to full strength.

Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

To be clear off the top, I’d be stunned if Saquon Barkley or Jalen Hurts came close to missing the NFC Championship game. Barkley missed a few snaps against the Rams to get his hand looked at, but it got wrapped and he came right back. Hurts didn’t miss any time, but his injury did seem a bit more serious. He ended up in the blue medical tent after getting his leg twisted underneath him on a sack. Hurts finished the game but was wearing a brace on the left knee and appeared to lose some of his mobility. That could take an element out of his game against the Commanders, but we’ll see how the week goes.

Sam Cosmi, RG, Washington Commanders

The Commanders had a massive win against the Lions, but it came at a cost. Right guard Sam Cosmi tore his ACL, and he was a very important piece of the offensive line. Cosmi had started every game this season, and having a weak spot on the offensive line is far from ideal against a talented Philly defense. Trent Scott will likely step in, and he’s only had three starts in the past two seasons. At least they get the whole week to prepare him for the challenge.
